Putting your $$, CC, kids' ipods, etc in the room safe or stashing stuff in various places, such as make up case, inside socks, etc.

I usually only take 2 CCs and little cash & GCs ... but still... I don't want it to come up missing.

In past trips I've used the room safe with no issue ... but with all the recent hype, I've started wondering which is better to do.

Just wondering what everyone else does.

Honestly, we left ipads and ipods on the table charging during our trip and never had a problem. I also left my purse in the room with my debit cards, some cash and one of my credit cards. I brought my driver's license, some cash and 1 credit card with me into the parks. Didn't use the safe at all. Have never had anything stolen from us while traveling.

I feel safer in the safe. If you hide items you increase your chance of losing them or tossing them or forgetting them. I've never had a problem with the safe. That said I also take minimal on vacation just in case.

We use the safe for extra cash, my everyday wallet (I use a smaller one in the parks) and our car keys (we usually use the Disney buses). I usually bring a netbook and my husband brings his laptop; I put my netbook in our suitcase when we leave the room, but don't always lock it. My husband usually leaves his computer out. Our kids often leave their iPods laying on the nightstand.

Sometimes I hide things too well and forget where :rolleyes1 At Disney we just put the smaller items in the safe - my Kindle Fire fits - DH's laptop sits at the table. Never had a problem (knock on wood ;)).

I put my wallet in the safe. I don't recall ever putting anything else in there. I've left my iPad sitting on the table. Those are really the only things worth much that we take with us.

We use the safe for cash, passports etc. Laptop just gets stuck in it's bag or suitcase.

I also clean out my wallet before I go away - just bring two credit cards and my ATM card, and some cash.

I keep that all with me, but if I had much cash, we put that and my DH's wallet and car keys in the safe. I think it's better to use the safe.

Laptops, they get left out. Ipad goes into a drawer under clothes. Nothing really gets left out but a big laptop - heck it's quite big to steal.

If there's a safe, I'd use it.

If you are really concerned, you could buy a small safe at Target or wherever and take it along. The smallest one is about $15 and could hold ipods, wallets, cash, keys. Then you could lock it to the closet rod or something like that (the small ones come with a tether cord). It really isn't any bigger or heavier than a large hardcover book.

That being said, I have left cameras, iPads, iPods, laptops, out in plain sight at Disney hotels (and other hotels) without any problem. If I have extra cash or credit cards, I tend to put them in the safe, if there is one available. Otherwise I just hide it in a few different places within my belongings.

Also, if you are taking a car, you could leave these items locked in your car for the day..........................P

We used the safe for smaller items but we also bought a suitcase lock and locked it to a fixed object like the dresser and in the suitcase we put larger items like my laptop.

I've never used the safe - We always just lock our important stuff in one of the suitcases. I usually have it sitting in the corner w/ the lock to the side/bottom of the case so that it's not obvious that it's locked.
