 We are cruising on 8/31/02 7 day on the magic. This will be our first cruise and my first time to Orlando. We would like to extend the magic one more day before returning home. I received my video today from WDW and now i am overwhelmed at the choices of hotels. With only one day to spend in the area(Sat/Sun), at which property would you suggest we stay? Should we try to do more than one park (park hopper?) or concentrate on one area. After watching the video, i am ready to leave right now! We will have two kids (DS8 and DD4). I thought maybe the waterparks but I value the opinion on these boards. BTW the video said there were 3 waterparks? I saw only one on the map.
Price is not really an issue as we will only stay one day. Thanking you in advance for your replies. My day would not be the same without my "fix" on the DIS boards!

and have 2 kids (7 year old DD and 4 year old DS). There are a few of us cruising then so we should plan to meet.

Welcome to the Boards. You and your family will love the cruise--one of the most relaxing vacations I've ever had. In your shoes, I would get a room at the Poly, and get a one day pass to MK. Although Sat. is not the optimal day of MK (it can be busy), if you've never been, it is the place to start. Then on Sunday, I would go to either Park Fare at the Grand Floridian, or Chef Mickeys at the contemporary for a character breakfast. Of course, this is just my opinion--I'm sure you'll hear many other options. Oh, and there are 3 waterparks--Blizzard Beach in the Animal kingdom area, River Country (near Wilderness Lodge) and Typhoon Lagoon. l

We are going on the Aug 24 7 day cruise (DS5, DS7, DH). Because we are flying out to the west coast, we decided to stay an extra night after the cruise as well (to avoid a late flight out the last day of the cruise) . I've booked the night at the All Star Resorts - Movie at WDW. It looks like alot of fun. I am also not sure what to do with only one day at WDW.

Like NCRedding said, there are three waterparks, but as of now, only two are open. River Country has been closed with rumors that it will not reopen. I spoke with someone in the executive offices a few weeks ago and she confirmed that there is no date set for reopening. If you choose to do one of the theme parks instead of a waterpark, you could always stay at the Beach Club or Yacht Club. They share a pool, which is a mini waterpark in itself. Just awesome! Enjoy! Sounds like you will have a great time.:)

I have to agree with the Yacht/Beach Club option. It is the best location if you want to do EPCOT and the pool area is just awesome.

I would stay at the Poly or the Grand Floridian, and take your kids to the Magic Kingdom. They would absolutely love it at there age. You will have plenty of time for water activities on the cruise, use your day to go to MK. If you have never been , there is just nothing like it!
