MY DH and I are finally getting to spend a whole week at Disney this October by ourselves and want to go on one of the tours. We are thinking about either the "Keys to the Kingdom" tour or the "Backstage Magic" tour (even though it's quite pricey). Which would you recommend and why?

Thanks for your input!!

We did the KTTK tour last summer, just my DH and I and it was excellent. So of course, next on my list is the Backstage Magic. Next time we can sneak away for a little long weekend, that is top on the list.

Enjoy which ever you choose!:D

My DH and I did Backstage Magic last October. The tour provided a wonderful taste of some of the behind the scenes functions of WDW. We saw the Christmas decorations preparation and storage area, the wardrobe department, the MK parade vehicles and staging area, the MK tunnels, and many other areas. Very impressive. We also had a nice lunch at MGM. I recommend this tour.

HI,

i just called yesterday and booked our first tour, the backstage magic. we are doing it on Oct 21st. anybody else out there??

My wife and I did three tours the first week of may. I would say they all have their own great qualities. The KTTK tour was nice and I loved the behind the scenes stuff. Also your tour guide will give you some great history lessons along the way of WDW and walt himself. The Undiscovered future world was a blast. We got to see the vip lounges around epcot. The living seas area was amazing! Mission Space was cool, we got to go into the actual cast member mission control room! The world showcase tour was also nice. A lot of behind the scenes viewing. We loved them all so much we will do all of them again sometime.

Make sure to use your Disney Visa to get 20% off of your tour!

Are you allowed to take photgraphs at all on the tours ?

Thanks

Colin

Don't forget there are two great tours at the Ak. One behind the scenes and the other in the front of Ak. Both are great.

I have went on the backstage Magic twice and loved it both times. It is a wonderful tour.

We also just took the Segway tour. Wonderful, Wonderful. Going to do it again in NOv.

According to everything I've read, you can only take pictures if you are onstage. If you are behind the scenes you cannot take pictures. When I took the Keys to the Kingdom tour we were actually told we couldn't bring cameras. We asked if we truly couldn't bring them or we just couldn't use them (I carry mine in my camera bag all day long and didn't want to rent a locker if it wasn't necessary). I was allowed to bring it as long as I didn't use it. I've read on here of other people who actually had to put there's in a locker.

We are doing the Segway Tour next Thursday. Half an hour of instruction then off on a journey through the World Showcase before it opens to the public. Cant wait!!

We are doing the Seas Aqua Tour @ Epcot on the 4th of July. Me, Son, & Daughter - Wife chickened out.:fish: :fish: :fish: :fish:

I think we will try to do the Backstage Magic tour this trip - not sure when we will be able to do another one, but it sounds like you get "hooked" and have to see the other ones too.

Thanks everyone !!

Just got back from WDW and did the Segway Tour. Just to let you know the instructions are about an hour long. When you go to world case you are not alone. You go in single file and the tour guides are with you,two in front and two in back, instructing you to follow them through the different lands. There is a small area they cone off in front of China that you can ride around by youself or get off for a short rest. This is the area where they will take pictures of you if you bring your own camera. There is a place to put a purse of camera on the front of the Segway.

I did the Backstage Safari at Animal Kingdom last year and it was great! Although Disney can't guarantee any animal interaction, we got to pet a rhino, see the areas where the animals are quartered and their food is prepared. And where they are cared for if, God forbid, they should get sick. Got to see a giraffe up close, and got to touch a baby alligator. AT the end we got to go on our own Kilimanjaro Safari ride.

The cast members conducting the tour were very knowledgable and enthusiastic.

It was absolutely fascinating, and I'm going again this year when my mother and I go.

I highly recommend Backstage Safari. It was worth every cent.

I just went to Disney Visa's web site to find about this 20% off discount, and it expires October 31st.

Does anyone know if you have to book the tour before the 31st or call by the 31st?

I'm thinking of doing this, on our upcoming trip, but we won't arrive until 4ish on the 31st.

Thanks!

I posted a new thread about this. I confirmed that you have to take the tour by 10/31.

I highly recommend the Keys tour. Took this is 2001 & loved it. i keep meaning to do it again, as a friend of mine is a tour guide on this tour...now that I am moving down, I will have to do this!

I've done both and they are both wonderful. I enjoyed the Backstage Magic a little more b/c you get to see Epcot & MGM as well as MK.

Also, if you are in the World during the Holidays, I highly recommend the Yuletide Magic Tour. You get to go backstage and see how they decorate the World for the holidays. We were taken to the huge warehouse where they store all of the decorations and to the Disney World Florist. Very enjoyable tour.
