Hi,
although not going until August, love the planning !
am considering which disney admission tickets to get, as to be honest with you will only probably spend 1 day at MK, 1 day epcot, 1 day MGM. so am not sure if its better value to buy at the gate, so to speak.

am also considering whether it may be better to go to parks late in the day and stay for the evening, when i am assuming they may be a little quieter.

any advice gratefully received.

regards
FF

How about AK? To be honest I think Epcot and MK need about a day and a half each at the least. Oh and will you want to visit the water parks such as Typhoon Lagoon or Blizzard Beach?

Claire ;)

Hi,

If you're only going to Disney for 3 days and aren't wanting park hopping or water parks then you wont save much money buying a 3 day ticket over 3 single days.

The only reason for buying the 3 day would be to save standing in a queue to buy your ticket - you cant get the 3 day tickets over here but you can buy them from American ticket companies such as ticketmania. To tell you the truth I'd just buy at the gate incase you change your mind when you get there.

We go in July and I wouldn't assume the parks get quieter in the evening. MK and Epcot will stay busy all day and will have long queues for the popular rides. MGM gets a bit quieter away from R'n'R coaster and Tower of Terror in the evenings as most people end up in that area for Fantasmic.

Personally, if you're going to spend that amount on a single day ticket, I'd go early, take a break if need be mid afternoon (picking up fastpasses as you leave, and go back in the evening as you'll not get your moneys worth just going in the evening.

To limit yourselves to only 1 day in each park in August may be a bit too much!

It will be hot, humid and probably wet in the afternoon. So to get to a park early morning and to stay all day will be a quite a marathon to say the least, especially if you plan to stay for the evening parades/fireworks.
Going late efternoon/evening may be less crowded, but lines for major attractions will still be quite long and by then all the Fastpasses may well be gone!

see www.mapleleaftickets.com for a good idea of what the Disney Magic Your Way tickets can offer - these are excellent as you can buy passes that do not expire plus the hopper facility too.
It depends on what your needs are, for us we do not visit WDW every day so our 10 day passes will last us a few holidays as there is no expiry on the one's we have.

maple leaf do Universal tickets also.

As far as crowds go I am not sure when in August you are going, but last year we went for 2 weeks from the 13th and are going for 3 weeks this year also. The parks from mid-August onwards are not too bad crowd wise at all, most US schools have returned then.
I still believe the best bet is too get to your chosen park early , have a break for lunch and then consider returning early evening, or visit a different park if you have hopper facility.

It will be very hot, visiting at the above times will ensure you miss the hottest times of the day and the busiest also - if anyone can manage a full day at a park fair enough, there is no way we could though. However, being regular visitors we are fortunate that there is no need to rush around too much.

Hi FF,

I am a frequent August visitor and to be honest my plan of action is always to arrive as early as I can bear to drag myself out of bed ;) If you can get there for park opening or even a little earlier that is best.

This does work well as it gets far busier in the lunchtime period.

Evenings in the parks we found pretty busy too - we tend to visit for meals & atmosphere rather than focusing on the rides etc.
