OK, just looking for an excuse to post a poll, really! :teeth:

I've been thinking about the WDW restaurants we've never visited. Which would you do, and why?

Debbie, did you mean to include a poll or is this one of those open ended ones? ;)

I meant to include a poll - I thought I had, just obviously don't know how!

I've voted for Biergarten, purely because we lived in Germany for 3 years when I was younger and I remember the food being delicious :) Not sure how 'authentic' it would be at WDW though.

If Le Cellier had been on the poll, I would have voted for that, purely for the Pretzel bread - I really want to go there this year but DH reckons it's not a good enough excuse to visit a restaurant, just to eat some bread :rotfl:

Voila, the poll has appeared :teeth:

OK of the choices you have there, the ones I have done include:

'Ohana
Really enjoyed our meal here but we were given a great table and our DDs loved the coconut races. Well, actually Jon & I enjoyed the adults' coconut race too :teeth: The food was quirky - obviously you can tell from the menu what you are going to get, but the food was well prepared, cooked and presented (and plentiful). I liked the whole Lazy Susan thing. It was quite a noisy experience, but the noise added to the atmosphere I felt. Plus, I love the Poly so any excuse to go there I will take with both hands :teeth:

Marrakesh
I was really looking forward to this, and we have a Moroccan restaurant in Exeter that we really enjoy so I thought I had a good idea of what to expect. I was bitterly disappointed. The restaurant was really big (and beautiful), but the tables were so crammed together in the area we were sat in that we were banging into each others' elbows eating. The food was mediocre at best and inedible at worst. When served it was either cold or had been sat on a hot plate for a long time. We didn't particularly enjoy the flavours of the food either - it was somewhat bland. Our server was quite abrupt (literally chucked the plates at the table after each course and ran off again) so I struggle to find a redeeming feature here to be honest. Oh, Jon says the belly dancer was it :teeth:

Nine Dragons
We had a surprisingly good meal here! Not to say it was any better or different to an above average Chinese meal at home, but it was good. I would not vote for this necessarily though, simply because you can have a nice Chinese at home, and there are no 'Ohana equivalents ;)

So, 'Ohana gets my vote (though almost by default, to be honest).

I agree with the above. 'Ohana was nice and relaxed and we got a great view of wishes.

Nine dragons gets some poor reviews, but we had a very good meal here.

Ohana's for me too :)

I just love all that meat :teeth:

Not sure when you were last at Ohana Karen but they have changed the menu and you no longer have the lazy Susan either :)

I thought I'd done a lot of the restaurants but from your list I only had been to the teppanyaki , and the San angel. I chose the teppanyaki because I love the japanese there and the chefs are good fun.

Although we have found it does make a difference who your table mates are. We have been seated with a brilliant family from New York who we shared stories with and had a good laugh. :thumbsup2 On the other hand we have been seated with some miserable people, who complained the whole way through the meal and argued with each other!

Ps I didn't like the nine dragons as a bird was flying around the room!

Has to be Yachtsman Steakhouse for the lovely steaks :) A pre dinner visit to the Crews Cup Lounge for drinks is also a great way to start the evening :teeth:

Claire ;)

Deb, I havent been to any of them yet...but in October Im going to Palios , and after posting about it on the resturants board and getting positive reviews from everybody who replied, I have voted for that :goodvibes

My vote went to Akershus. Last time we dined there my friend who is Norwegian was with us. Apparently the atmosphere was very authentic as was the food.

I've voted for the Marrakesh :)

We have always had great service and meals there, plus you get the belly dancer for entertainment (almost like an exotic Hooters :) ).

well I choose 1900 park fare as I had choose that one for myself when deciding which restaurants I want to visit.

I have voted for Nine Dragons we have always had good food here and I am a big chinese fan!

Ohanas gets really good reviews though we haven't tried it - we will next trip!

There are lots of great options on your poll. My personal favourite is Bistro de Paris - it's definitely our favourite Epcot restaurant.

The food is wonderful and there is an extensive selection. You have to enjoy true French cusine, though - as there are few other options available. The Foie Gras is incredible - better than most I have tried in France! DH reallly enjoys the congnac ribeye steak.

The atmosphere of the restaurant is second-to-none. It's very small and thus service has always been truly exceptional. There are also some excellent views from the restaurant - which is an ideal location to watch Illuminations from.

A close second for me is Narcoossee's. We make a stop here every single trip. The CMs are so friendly and I love how it is separate from the GF main building and benefits from excellent MK views. It has great food and a nice decor as well. Have you considered Citrico's? This is another favourite of mine!

We like San Angel Inn as well, although lately they seem to have crammed in as many tables as possible and I am starting to find it a little too noisy. The theming is nice, and we have always found the food to be good, but service has not been as excellent as elsewhere.

We enjoy 'Ohana for a fun evening. In my opinion the food isn't incredible - but it is still good and there is lots of choice. Our three children love the atmosphere in the restaurant and the fun and games, but if it was just DH and I we definitely wouldn't choose to dine here.

We didn't enjoy Yachtsman - I thought it was overpriced and the food of a low quality. The service was extremely slow as well.

15 months ago Joh. I knew they had changed the menu (that's why I said "you can tell from the menu" ;) )

It hasn't changed significantly in my eyes, though (but I confess I am sad the pineapple has gone :( )

Still, it hasn't put me off as I will be eating there again in four months' time :teeth:

As to the Lazy Susan, maybe we never had one when we went there last? I thought we did but looking at my photo I'm not sure if it looks like it should rotate or not. Could be my faux pas ;)

Thanks for your responses - they have definitely given me something to think about. Some of those on the list are ones I've never really fancied, but think I should at least try ('Ohana is a prime example); others are ones I've always meant to try, but have never got around to for one reason or another - Palio, Bistro de Paris, Yachtsman's Steakhouse (Claire - I love the Crew's Cup Lounge) and Narcoosee's.

Frances, the more of your posts I read, the more I think we must have been separated at birth! :teeth: Foie Gras in a theme park restaurant? How have I missed that?! And Matt would definitely choose the cognac ribeye! We've been to Citricos once several years ago and enjoyed it, so it may be time for another visit.

So much food, so little time...

Trust me - the Foie Gras is delicious! Definitely give Bistro a try if you have time. It's wonderful!

I agree that there is "so much food, so little time"! One of these days I would love to take a long trip and simply spend all day every day dining my way through all the restaurants. Actually, perhaps I should get a job with the WDW-Dine call centre and spend each day talking about Disney restaurants with excited guests! :goodvibes :rolleyes1
