Which Disney Memory makes you smile?

I have two GREAT ones! When my dd was only about 11 months old and had only been walking a short time we went to the character meet and greets in epcot to see Mickey. OMG she fell in LOVE and MIckey was wonderful. She just kept holding on to his legs and looking up at him with these big eyes. Mickey paid her so much attention. We were the last ones in line before they closed up shop so there was no one waiting behind us and they gave her so much attention. Mickey walked away and she held her hands up and i guess the cm told mickey and he turned around and ran back to her and gave her the biggest hug. VERY VERY awesome!

Then one time we went to the princess meet and greets in toontown and i didn't think to bring my sons autograph book and just brought my daughters. Well as soon as he saw the princesses (he was 4) he was start struck and very upset i forgot his book. So cinderella got a notecard and kissed it and left lipstick on it for him and she signed it. He carried that notecard with him for the whole rest of the day.

You can't get that type of stuff at any other place.

I just booked a week long trip to Disney for my husband (his first time ever at WDW) and I in September of this year - reading all your posts was wonderful - thank you for sharing! I hope to post some of our favorite memories when we return!

:) Lovin' it. DH and I do not have children and I have only been going to Disney since 2002. Addicted from the start.....

#1 My FIL was with us for his last trip to WDW in 2004, he passed the following year and we knew he was very sick when we went in 04. Anyway, we had rented him a scooter, which he handled very well....until we went in the chine shop in England at EPCOT. Yep, you guessed it, he went head long into the table full of Royal Doulton China.....didn't break a one.....we of course backed him up and left immediately, laughing nervously......haven't seen that dispaly since then. It is our favorite "Pop" story.

#2 I had the dream trip taking my parents this past Dec. They had a fantastic time. My Dad is 71 and a man of few words...he kept saying "man, this is the only way to do Disney" and then after EE...."that was a h**l of a ride!!!". He recently started seeing a cardiologist after our trip ( not du eto the trip:rotfl:)--when the Doc asked about his overall health...."H**l I just got back from walking all over WDW for 10 days and riding all the rides". Cna't say more than that as a testamnet to heart health...:rotfl2:

When I was 7 and WDW was just 2 years old, my grandparents moved to Florida and broke my heart, I missed them so much! My grandpa was famous for being a lovable codger, think Walter Matthaw, the actor....well, we went to visit them and my grandpa said he'd take us to "Walt Disney's place", but we'd drive over from their house in St. Petersburg and just stay until 5pm. So we drive there and my brother, who was 12 at the time, and I were so excited (our sisters were 14 & 16 and could care less), and my mom and dad were, too, but Grandpa was grumpy...until we parked and found out we were going on a MONORAIL. He said, "This is not half-bad". Then we got to Magic Kingdom and he saw the castle and said, "That's pretty good". Then a VERY PRETTY Snow White came up and said hi and posed for a picture....grandpa was VERY HAPPY! This was when there were still paper tickets, and Grandpa started saying, "How do we get more tickets?" and went with me and my brother on Peter Pan, the cars, Jungle Cruise....so 5pm comes and Grandpa says, "We're not leaving!". He actually tried to get a hotel room even though we didn't have a change of clothes, but we went home...very late and to a very upset Grandma who wondered where we were! Well, that was my first trip to Magic Kingdom and seeing my Grandpa have so much fun while I was having fun, it was priceless! Sadly, he died the next year, but I still have memories of him with Snow White, and a fading kodak instamatic picture, too. Now, I have had 300 more memories since then, but the happiness I felt that day discovering Disney with my grumpy Grandpa is something I'll carry with me forever!

Well you have brought tears to my eyes. This is the sweetest thing ever and I'm so happy that you got to experience this with your grandpa.....grandparents are the absolute best!

June 2006 we were at MGM. We were watching the parade and my daughter was picked from the crowd to dance/walk through the rest of the parade due to her "custom made outfit and matching hair bows". We didn't see any other kids getting picked so it made us glow. Through out the entire trip every parade we watched the characters walked up and made a big deal about her outfit she was wearing! It was well worth the money spent for all the special memories we have from her and the characters.

apart from the non-stop joy i get out of my family having unadulterated fun at WDW, the statue of Walt and Mickey in front of the castle gets me. It makes me feel like a little kid again walking with my dad and holding his hand and of me walking with my little boys holding their hands. it's a surreal thing for me.

What a great story! My own grandparents took me to WDW when I was a kid as well, though it was my second visit. My grandfather was my hero -- and I still miss him terribly. He's been gone almost nine years now. I look forward to the day I'll see him again.

That is such a sweet story. :cutie: You sound like a good catch!

I will admit I believe it was one of my finer hours. Honestly, I consider being able to do that to have been a rare privilege and honor. How could I resist?

My favourite Disney memory is when we visited Disneyland in 2002, my DS (then 9) and DD (then 7), were getting an autograph from Aladdin, he noticed that our autograph book was from DLP (we had visited there in 2000) I said to him yes we met you there, aladdin looked down at the kids and said 'Gosh yes I recognise you now, it was a couple of years ago and you two were both a bit smaller weren't you'! my kids faces were an absolute picture. That Aladdin was amazing!!:cool1::cool1::cool1:

Mine was during our last trip Feb 2009. It was just the three of us, my DH, DD (3 at the time), and me. We had seen Belle in EPCOT front of France, but Beast wasn't out yet and were told to come back in a few mins to meet him. Last trip 1.5yrs prior DD was scared as all get out when she met him. She was shacking like a leaf and Belle had to stand between us and him so she wasn't to close to him for our group picture. This trip turned out to be a real surprise for us all!

We headed down to Morocco and saw Genie and Aladdin and then back to see the Beast. But when we got back the line had just been closed, we were 1 min late. But we got a dream granted even though it "what will you celebrate." The cast member remembered our DD and brought us up the back way as Belle and Beast were about to leave and let her meet the Beast and get pictures with them. It was a very magical moment and one I will remember for a long time. Our daughter ran right up to the Beast and gave him the biggest hug we had seen her give any character the whole trip and stood right between them for her picture.

I couldn't believe this was the child just 1.5yrs ago was shaking like a leaf and wanted to run far far away from the Beast!

I have several great memories, the first being when my DH and I took our children for the first time, to see it through their eyes is amazing, well they are now 36 and 30 and married. My youngest DS loves Disney so much, he has done several of his rooms in his house in all Disney theme and is expecting his first son in July and the nursery is all done in Vintage Disney. Its a good thing he married a girl who likes Disney as much as he does.

The second memory is going to WDW with our grandson when he was 2. I cried watching him go on rides with his father, and knowing that my DH did the same thing with him when he was little.

The last but not least memory is when my DH and I were celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary and we decided to go to WDW and when we got to the airport to leave for the trip, I felt a tug on my shorts and it was my oldest Dgs who was 4 at the time and had been to WDW 2 times already, and I asked him what he was doing at the airport, and he said he was going to WDW with his Mimi and Papa. We were so surprised because my DS and his wife had just had their 2nd child and he was also making his first trip to WDW. He was only 5 months old. Mimi got to buy him his first MIckey ears and to see my children and grandchildren enjoy the land of magic as much as we have, is an awesome thing. More memories are coming in September when we go to WDW and the grandchildren are coming too and I cannot wait.:cool1:

4 years ago, when we took our 2 DD to DW for the 1st time, my oldest 4 was given a rose, and danced with the Beast in the Rose Garden. She was mesmerized. The next day, we went to the Beauty and the Beast show at DHS, and when the Beast turned to the Prince at the end, she cried tears of sadness, and kept yelling "I want him to turn back into the Beast!" We had to calm her down, but it was so cute, because she "loved" the Beast!

I actually have a favorite moment from each trip.

First trip was our honeymoon ( four years ago today :goodvibes). My DH had been to WDW twice as a child but I had never been able to go. So plans were made. We landed at Orlando and caught the Magical Express and headed to ASMusic. We didn't have park tickets for our first night so we got all the maps and daily information for the parks and spent the rest of the evening hanging out by the pool planning. It was our first trip together.

The second trip was in October right after our first anniversary. We had planned a trip for our anniversary but found out that we were going to be parents and had to reschedule. At 5 months pregnant we hit WDW for our trip, once there we had a blast including attending MNSSHP. While touring toon town that night Mickey ran up to me, grabbed my hand, lead me to Minnie and rubbed my belly. They both started jumping up and down and clapping. We have some great pictures of that in the baby's room.

Our last trip was at Thanksgiving 2008 with our 2 year old. She LOVES Mickey and friends and was excited about "Mickeys house". When we arrived at Epcot the first day - we immediately hit the character spot. She ran arms open to a waiting Minnie Mouse. Minnie kneeled down and gave her the biggest hug and then lead her to the other characters.

Meeting my husband 4 years ago standing in line at BTMRR.

It was Gay Day weekend and I originally thought he was ...... Gay. I thought for two weeks.......WHY ARE ALL THE GOOD ONES GAY!

I have so many but three that I always go back to are

1 - DH wasnt as big of a disney fan as me and our first trip together was after we were married a few years. My mom and dad, my brother and SIL and 5 year old niece all went. At the parade, I believe it was electrial parade at the time, my niece was sitting in the stroller and just about every character came to her and talked to her or shook her hand and she was just in awe. My DH looked at me and said - I finally get it. :lovestruc I finally won him over

2 - we took my FIL for his first time ever and we went mini golfing which he had never done (he was 80 at the time) OMG he was horrible and we were all laughing so hard. he hit the ball in the water, he kept hitting the obstacles, we were in hysterics! :rotfl2:

3 - we were there on my birthday and PUSH sang happy birthday to me and then said I was senile because I was talking to a trash can - it was really funny

great thread

My favorite memory changes every year. This last trip it was the way my godchildren excitedly talked about going on Big Thunder Mountain 7 times this trip (3x one day, 4x a second day). Also my godson saying that he kept his eyes open the whole time during Haunted Mansion!

It changes every year because something cute/memorable always happens yearly.

My favs from my recent March trip...

1. My DS(18mo) seeing his very first character...Jimney Cricket. I held my breath cause I was not sure how'd he react. He ran up to Jimney Cricket with open arms and a smile. :)

2. Riding the animal safari ride at AK and DS pointing out the animals to us.

3. DS dragging around his "MiMi" (mickey mouse doll) that was almost as tall as he was.

We went on our first Disney trip last year. Our first night there, we went to 1900 Park Fare to eat. When the Prince got finished dancing with Cinderella, he came and got my DD. The look and smile on her face when the Prince was twirling her was priceless!!:lovestruc

DD5 had the same experience last year. It was also our first trip, and our first day there was thanksgiving day. We did AK in the morning and had thanksgiving dinner at Park Fare. The look on her face when prince charming kissed her hand was worth every penny we spent on that trip, and to top it off, she got to dance with Cinderella!

On our first night, we did dinner at the WCC at Wilderness Lodge. We decided to take the boat to the MK and then the busses back to Pop. IT was pitch black out, and the boat was full. As we rounded one of hte islands you could see the castle lit up. Out of hte blue my daughter, at the top of her lungs says "look Mommy Cinderella's Caaaassstlle'. Everyone smiled and laughed, she was mesmerized. I will never forget it.

These stories are so sweet and have brought tears to my eyes.
