Which dinner show to choose?

DH and I are planning an adults only trip and I really want to do a dinner show because it will be something new/different for us. Thoughts on all 3? What did you like about the ones you've done?

We LOVE the HDDR. We are going again this year - adults only. Western themed, All You Care to Eat ( and drink), dinner show full of audience participation, singing, dancing, and corny jokes. The food is great & it is lots of fun.
Mickey's Backyard Barbecue is geared toward young children. I would avoid it.
The Spirit of Aloha gets very mixed reviews. We have never been because we love HDDR so much

We've never done one, but are planning spirit of aloha this coming trip. I
Know it can be cheesy, but I honestly think my whole family will enjoy it. We may do HDDR as well. My friend said never ever do the BBQ. Her experience has made me swear it off.

Forget MBBQ. It's target audience is preschoolers and their long suffering parents.

We did SOA once. It's a very pale imitation of a real luau, and the food was, um, er, barely OK.

We've done HDDR close to a dozen times. :thumbsup2

HDDR is tops, IMHO. Lots of fun. Corny, yes, but the players are energetic and excel at audience participation. Kids love it and so does my senior mom. We've done it a half-dozen times and always have a great time. It is Disney at it's best.

We've done HDDR and SOA and love both shows and the food! What time of year are you going? The first time we did SOA it was July and very hot and humid. It's outdoors and there are fans, but it was still very warm to be eating hot food outdoors. HDDR is indoors with AC. Just something to consider.

We went to the spirit of aloha show and loved it. Very entertaining, and the meal was very good and plentiful.

Hands down HDDR! We've done it five years in a row and it's a Disney must do in my opinion!
The show is so entertaining and the food is good:)
I cannot imagine a trip without it!

Good point! We will be going in June.

Sounds like HDDR is it!! What are your thoughts on getting out there? We are planning to stay at the Poly on that trip (I was considering SOA for convenience).

We like a leisurely boat ride (typically stay at WL), so I was thinking monorail around to MK, boat to WL, then boat across to FW?

That's more complicated than necessary. Monorail or resort launch to MK, then boat to FW.

I have only done Spirit of Aloha and unfortunately, I did not enjoy it. It was an anniversary trip without kids and I thought we'd take advantage of the included alcohol. I ended up only having a few sips of sangria and my husband didn't feel like drinking at all that night. The food was blah (and messy), the sangria was terrible. The show was pretty good, especially the fire part, but all in all, not worth it. I wouldn't recommend it.

We've done both HDDR and the Luau. Hoop Dee Doo has turned into a must do and the Luau was a one and done.

We make sure to do HDDR each trip. The food is great and the show is a lot of fun. It's the best!
