Which dinner show for boys ages 16, 12, 9??

Hi everybody! We are traveling to WDW 05/27-06/02 and have the dxddp. I am working on ADRs and have almost all of them. We are doing the Spirit of Aloha for sure and I wanted to do either Mickey's Backyard BBQ or Hoop Dee Doo also. My boys are 16, 12, and 9. Which do you suggest?

My ds loved HDDR! We have now done it twice because he enjoyed it so much! We have also done the Luau and enjoyed it, but not as much as HDDR! Have not tried the BBQ, maybe next trip!

I think the 16 might be too old to enjoy Mickey's Backyard BBQ from what I read.

I definitely recommend Hoop Dee Doo as well. I love that show and have been several times with just adults and adults with children. Everyone has a blast. I'm going back there in February with my BF and his 10 year old son (first time for both of them). It's campy, fun, and interactive.

I would suggest HDDR. Both of my boys, 14 and 12 at the time, thought the show was great. At the beginning, they were too cool to show that they liked it, but not too far into it, they were laughing along as well. After the show was over and we were on our way back to our resort, they actually told us that they really enjoyed it.

Another big yes for HDDR! It's definitely fun for a wide range of ages.

We have gone to HDDR with "Mature adults" through toddlers and everyone has loved it. It gets my vote.
I definitely think your 16 yo is too old for Mickey's Backyard Barbeque

Yup... like everyone said... HOOP DEE DOO!

Mickey's Backyard BBQ was fun... but the food was so so... and the older children in your group will have MUCH more fun at Hoop Dee Doo.

DS 4 laughed nonstop at the HDD show. Older children will definitely enjoy. The food is still stuff like fried chicken and ribs... but very delicious when we were there.

Our HDD waitress was loud and obnoxious. She made a lot of smart remarks about me drinking my beer too fast and brought me a giant pitcher of beer and took my mug away. Then she slammed our food on the table so hard I nearly fell out of my seat. Some people at other tables were punished and made be part of the show and wear dresses and things like that.

HDDR is quite a show. If you can't have fun there you can't have fun. If 16yr old is cranky about the idea tell him to suck it up. When he gets there it will be a blast for him.

We have been to all three with our boys and we truly love the HDDR the most. My boys have been three times and want to go back again. I can actually say we just like the other two and do not plan to go back for a while.

HDDR is special. The show is terrific for boys of all ages, the food is good and great that it is inside. Florida heat can ruin an expensive meal pretty quickly.

I completely agree that HDDR is the best. It is my family's favorite dinner show. I think the BBQ may be a bit lame for your oldest.

I forgot to say... good choice with Spirit of Aloha. We enjoyed it very much in Oct. 2009.... only reason we didn't go again is we were doing different things.....

If you have never been to SOA, we liked the food. Children can go up on stage and hula at one point. The story line is a little corny... but make sure you stay for the fire juggler at the end (best part). And your DS16 will like the "eye candy" -- watching the hula dancers. I think the women probably like the hunky male dancers that come out too....!

With the ages of your boys I would suggest Hoop-De-Do-Revue HANDS DOWN! It is defiantly for a slightly older crowd and, in my experience, not as "traditionally Disney" in the show material, and I think you all would really enjoy it. The show is fun, and the food is great and I think you get a pretty good value for the cost.
