We are looking to replace our families Kodak Easyshare Camera that bit the dust this week. I would like to upgrade a little, but stay within the $150 to $200 range. Basically I use the camera for normal family holidays, 2 of my daughters sporting events, and I sometimes like to do close-ups. Nothing out there. I am overwhelmed by all of the cameras to choose from.

What camera do you have that you would recommend?

Thanks.

I absolutely love my Canon S3. It runs around $280ish on Amazon. It is very easy to use and the color is great! Maybe it will show up on a black friday sale around $200 since its been out for a bit?

Absolutely love our Canon PowerShot A550. Bought ours on Amazon.com and saved a lot over competitors. Great pictures considering the reasonable price. :thumbsup2

Mine is an A630 and I got it from Amazon in May for just under $200. In the past I've had Kodak and Olympus digital cameras and was also happy with them, too. There is a web site that gives you really good reviews - it is called Steve's Digicams. I am too new to post links, but if you search for it on Google, I'm sure you will find it.

Good luck - I hope you find a great sale!

I replaced our Kodak Easy Share with a Samsung S630. If I had the money I would have went with a Canon but this was the best I could afford. Im happy with it and it's very easy to use. My children can even use it. My Kodak still works except you can't get sound with videos and that's what I needed it for. One thing I like about it better than the Kodak was for videoing with Kodak you had to hold that button down the entire time and with the Samsung you don't.

I have a Kodak EasyShare and just bought DD a Nikon Coolpix for Christmas. I bought it at a local camera shop, which let me take pictures with it and then printed them out. It was amazing. I'm actually thinking of going back and getting another one for me.

I have a fuji E900 & love it. It's 9 megapixel. Awesome pictures!!! A guy I work with is a digital camera wizard & says it's one of the best. I paid about $350 for it last year & the prices are coming down. I think it's $200 now.

We have a Sony Cyber-shot DSC-S650, got it for about $150 at WalMart last year. The only problems I have with it is that it's very sensitive to movement and doesn't do the time & date stamp. Other than that, it's a pretty good camera.

Have you taken a look at some of the Black Friday deals? Best Buy just put out their 'secret' ad supplement, and there are a couple cameras on there....

Sony- Cyber-shot 7.2MP Digital Camera - Silver for $100 and Olympus - 8.0MP Digital Camera - Silver for $130. There is also a DVD camcorder fromHitachi for $200.

I hope I got all the links right, but if I didn't, I'll come back and edit.

See the thread on the Kodak from QVC good deal for nice little camera!

Thanks so much everyone for your help. Thanks StaciMc for the Steves Digicams site. That is also really helpful. I am going to start looking at these cameras to get a feel for them. Also, thanks for the Black Friday info. Price is a concern....always.

I am enjoying looking at all of these cameras.

Yes, it is definitely a good idea to test them out to get a feel for them before you buy. If you go to Best Buy (or wherever you're going) before BF, you should be able to play around with the cameras, as they should have batteries in them, but probably not a memory card, unless it has one built-in.

We're on our 2nd Canon Powershot - love them! We had the A95 & also the A610. Lots of features that I don't know how to use, but they don't complicate the simple things I need the camera for. It's nice to know those features are there in case I need them at a later date.

Another vote for canon powershot, I have the A520 but am looking to replace for more mp and zoom, I was looking at the A720 last night, its 197 on amazon and my friend has the previous model the A710 and it takes amazing pictures.
I am just finding it hard to spend the money when I don't need the camara, I just want the camara.........LOL

ditto! I love my S3!

Unfortunately, I haven't seen the S3 in any ads. That may be that the newer model is out, now. It's the Powershot S5. I have no idea if it's in any of the ads.

I'm on my second Canon as well - first one (s45) went to DD and I got a new
SD550 last Christmas. Can't say enough great things about the Canon. Check out the SD1000 now at great prices. A good site to check out is dpreview.com. HTH

how are all of these with flash pics? I have the kodak Z740 and it is great if you have enough light, but the flash photos are awful unless you are VERY close.

We love our Canon SD750. Canon's "A" series takes AA batteries and their "SD" series has a Lithium Ion battery. We opted for lithium ion because it allows the camera to work faster (less lag time)... as per a few reviews I read.

I have a kodak easyshare z712 IS. It's a great camera, the only time I've had problem with pictures was poor lighting in a venue for a concert. Otherwise all my pictures have turned out great. It's about 250 when I got it but I know it's on some black friday ads.
