Which Denver hotel would you recommend for a business trip?

My son (23) is flying to Denver next week (Dec 6) on a business trip. He has to find his own accommadations (money is not a big option as company will be picking up the tab) so he asked me to ask you DISers.

He has learned where to go for traveling advice, hasn't he!!!:rotfl:

Last month we stayed at the Denver Downtown Sheraton & we were very pleased. It was an excellent location as well with access to lots of shopping and restaurants.

I second this. Very convenient to good food

What part of town is the business trip taking him to?

There are many businesses downtown, but there are also many businesses located in the Denver Tech Center which is several miles southeast of downtown. I do believe the light rail runs between the two areas, but it'd probably be best to be located near the office he is visiting.

When my dad goes to Denver for business, he is often in the NW suburbs and it would make no sense for him to stay downtown.

That was my question. Where's the business? Staying downtown won't be convient to the DTC area if that's where he needs to go.

Will he have a car?

I just got off the phone with my son. The conference, like your dad's, is in a NW suburb. Broomfield. My son is looking at the Omni, I guess. He's looking at renting a car, too.

Thanks for the replies, tho. :)

I'm glad you talked to him. Broomfield is a good 20 min drive w/no traffic on highways from downtown so staying downtown would be inconvenient. I looked at the bus schedule and they allot 35 min from the 16th Street Mall to the Event Center.

I think the Omni would be a great choice.

The Omni is a great choice. It is close to a mall with some good dining choices. It is also very easy to get to from DIA.

That is my part of town. I live less than 5 minutes from Interlocken (the office park where the Omni is located.) The Omni is very good. There is also the Renaissance which is a bit closer to the mall, shopping and restaurants. And it has one of my favorite restaurants in it; Flatz.

Both are very nice hotels and you can't go wrong with either. I prefer the Renaissance though. Don't know if they still do it as I haven't been there for a bit, but they used to have Thursday night jazz and sushi in the lobby bar. Big roaring fire, sushi and live jazz, lots of ambiance and the locals love it.

Thanks guys. I will tell him to stick with the Omni. I looked it up online. Looks very nice. It's great he's close to a mall.....maybe he'll go Christmas shoping for Mom while there!!! :teeth:

36 west bogs down almost as bad as 25 down by the Tech center during morning rush hour. Not bad going from Broomfield to downtown, but heading into this part of town - major headache.

It would be a hassle to commute from downtown into Broomfield in the mornings.

I cross 36 every morning between the Superior and Broomfield exits and it is stop and go traffic each and every morning.

He will be very happy with the Omni-and very glad he did not stay downtown-36 is a horrible commute in the mornings. We lived in NW Denver (Westminster) for many years and one of my sons currently lives in Broomfield about 5 minutes from the Omni. He goes to school and works in Boulder but the cost of living up there is quiet high. He and his roommates allow 90 minutes morning and evening for commute time-and its only about 12 miles.
