Hi there,

I am shortly to be a Cast-Member at Epcot and am looking into which resort my boyfriend and I should stay at when he comes to visit next year. Despite being a Disney Nut, every time we go we stay in private villas and so have no idea bout the Disney Resorts.

DBF had never been to Disney so I really want to choose a hotel that is special an really magical. I would like to stay in a Deluxe one as its probably the only time I will be able to afford it, what with having CM discount!

I am thinking of the Animal Kingdom Lodge, if not one of the resorts on the MK Monorail circuit.

Does anyone have any suggestions/ info on prices? As I said I would love to splash out for that one week and go Concierge or have a great view etc. Oh and I'm looking at mid-late March time!

Thanks guys!

Just as many things, it depends on what you like.

If you are a MK nut, then it makes sense to stay at one of the monrail resorts. Personally, I think the choice comes down to GF or the Contemporary. The Poly may be nice, but I don't think it measures up to the other two on the monorail line.

Personally, I like the Beach Club the best because I am an Epcot/DHS nut. Those are the two parks I like best, so BC is the perfect spot for those. Plus, it has the added advantage of being very close to the Boardwalk and the only nightlife left on property.

Certainly an argument can be made for the YC (at which I have not stayed) since they are connected, and I get the sense that it attracts a quieter crowd than the BC. I also like the BI a lot too.

AKL is great, but it is just so far away from everything!

I have never stayed at WL so cannot comment on that one.

Have fun!

Congrats on the new job at Disney!!! I would love to work there. What will you be doing?? Anyway, I have stayed at the CR a few years back and we loved it. I have looked at the new refurbished rooms and they just dont look very Disney at all. I dont know if we will be staying there again because of that reason. I loved the tower room with a MK view, though. It cant be beat. We are staying at the Poly on our next trip and I am excited about it. I would suggest that for a young couple. GF is a bit stuffy for our taste. Good luck!

I love the monorail resorts as well but I have to admit... my favorite MK hotel is the Wilderness Lodge. AKL is a beautiful hotel and is definitely the newest of the resorts. But... as I said... WL is our fav resort.

I love the idea of the AKL--the only resort we would like to try if we leave our resort. Out of the monorail resorts, we love the Poly and enjoyed the Contemporary (don't like the GF at all--just not us), and although the WL is beautiful, we wouldn't stay there because we aren't the outdoorsy type.

We love the Boardwalk area. The Animal Kingdom is far from everything, IMO. The monorail resorts are ok. If he comes to visit around Christmas, the WL is magical.

I would take a good look at the website, brochures and/or planning DVD to see which of the themes you like the best at the resorts. They vary in so many ways including decor, grounds, transportation, etc. Figure out what matters most-- and go with what make you happiest. As you know, you really can't go wrong at WDW :)

I'd go for AKL. Although so far it's the only deluxe I've stayed at, it doesn't have the bus problems that the other deluxe resorts have. It's very close to AK, which is a great place to spend a few days, and it has wonderful service.

It's also very romantic, which is why I'm taking my DH there for his first Disney trip!

Have fun choosing! :goodvibes

I'd stay at AKL. DH and I stayed there last May for a very much needed vacation and we were also celebrating our anniversary. It's now my favorite resort. Having it be so far away from "everything" is what made it so nice! The pool area is beautiful and relaxing and the building itself is beautifully decorated with artifacts. The animals are an added bonus! This was the first slow vacation DH and I have taken at WDW in a long time and it was the perfect resort for relaxing.

Congrats on becoming a CM!

I vote for AKL - there's just something about stepping out of your room and seeing those animals - my favourite deluxe hotel :)

If you want to try Club Level at one of the Monorail Resorts the best view would be the Tower Magic Kingdom View at the Contemporary, because it's a full view of the Magic Kingdom.

Congrats on the new job at Disney!!! I would love to work there. What will you be doing??

Thank you! I'll be working as a F&B hostess at the UK Pavillion in Epcot....and I can't wait!

Thank you all so much for your help and advice. The good news is that I will be there for a few months before he visits so I plan to take in the resorts on my days off. And as an added bonus, when I get there in a few weeks they will all be beautifully decorated for Christmas. I am especially excited to experience the WL at this time of year :)

It's all what you plan on doing... If you want to focus on going to MK, then WL is the best for the price. A short boat ride that takes no longer than a monorail ride and it's cheaper. Plus...it's a beautiful resort. If you're not a MK person, then there are options such as BC or BW in the EPCOT area. You're a short walk from EPCOT or a short boat ride to DHS. If you like animals, the AKL is the best for you.

The lodges are beautiful. I'm a huge WL fan and would stay there over any of the MK resorts because it's big, but not too big, close to MK and is a very quiet location to stay at.

March is spring break for most Americans and more than likely your CM discount will be minimal to none during this time. We vacationed there at The Beach Club this past spring break and it was the most crowded I have ever seen it, we usually go twice a year. Hope this helps.
