We are planning to go to WDW for our 1 year anniversary in May.
We are hoping to try a deluxe this time. The only one we definitely aren't interested in is the Wilderness Lodge.
With that said, what deluxe resort would you suggest?
Thanks!

Try one of the Epcot resorts. A really great area with easy access to Epcot and the Studios.

We love the WL. If you are staying 5 or more nights I would recommend splitting the stay (we usually do, this December 2 nights in POR and 4 at Beach Club). It is a little bit of a hassle to pack/unpack but WDW will move you bags and stuff to the next resort. I think a few nights at WL then either Epcot resort or another of our favorites, the Poly. It is nice to have a change in the middle. When we do move, we almost always move to same level or higher, moving down might be a disapointment (might!).
Have a great 1 year anniversarry!!!!;)

We stayed at the YC for our 30th ann.
It was the best Ann. we have had. They treated us like royalty!
Even got upgraded from st. view to water view.
When we got back to our room one night they had even delivered choc. covered strawberries to our room with a card from Minnie and mickey mouse!
Hope you have a great Anniversary.......WDW is a great place to have one!

Last year we split our 20th anniversary trip between the YC and AKL concierge (for the sunrise safari). We loved them both!

Polynesian or AKL!!!!

Yacht Club would be a 3rd choice.

AKL......

My DW and I left the kids at home last year. This was our one big trip and was very stressed about which resort to choose. We got a great rate at AKL, but was still unsure. Great atmopshere. Very relaxing. Very romantic. Of course you need to bring that with you...LOL We visited the pool and hot tub every afternoon and night. Great pool bar too. They had our favorites waiting everytime.

AKL really spoiled us....

Definitely, the Yacht Club! It's a very elegant resort in a great location. You will have so many restaurants that you will be able to walk to, plus EPCOT and MGM. When we were there in August, it was very quiet and peaceful. We knew that there were kids staying there, but we didn't hear them and we didn't see them! We visted most of the other deluxe resorts and they always seemed noisy and crowded with kids running everywhere. I know it's Disney and I expect kids everywhere, but it was nice going back to the hotel at night and not seeing them!

AKL, Polynesian or Yacht & Beach Club (request a full balcony at Y&B club), and I would spend the extra for a view (especially at AKL or the Y&B Club).

For overall theme and ambience, I would say that the AKL is my favorite, and is pretty romantic, since everything is done in dark woods and with ambient lighting. The only drawback is that it is served only by the bus system.

If you're a fan of Epcot, or enjoy the dining options in the World Showcase, then the Yacht & Beach club is a good choice.

If you like the monorail, the MK & the tropical feel, then the Poly is the way to go. Kona Cafe is a very good restaurant, and the pool is a great place for a Pina Colada. Watching the fireworks from the beach is very nice, too.

tHE Polynesian would be the first choice.... "BUT" the Beach Club and the Boardwalk Inn are great too... Each have some wonderul reasons why they would make a great place to enjoy your anniversary but it really depends on the mood you want to create...

The Polynesian offers South Seas, plants, soft lighting and music in the background as you walk around the grounds in the evening with a view of the castle from the beach.

I really enjoyed the Beach Club as well in the evening, just walking around after a long day in the parks, the area seems peaceful and relaxing.

I feel the resort sets the tone of the vacation. Each place offers such a different feeling that it all depends on the feeling you want to surround yourself with on this special time.

No matter what you choose, you'll have a great time, and please let us know what you select so we can all say we love it...LOL

Good Luck!

I would choose between the BWI, the Polynesian, and the AKL.

The BWI seems to have the least number of kids, especially if you can swing concierge. The close location to Epcot lends itself to leisurely walks in and out of the park, and having close to a dozen upscale restaurants within a few minutes walk is wonderful. The atmosphere is quiet and casually elegant, and a trip to the Bellevue Room is a must during your stay.

The Polynesian just seems to lend itself to romance, with the hammocks on the beach and the lush tropical setting. Although IMHO the dining options there aren't romantic, it's a quick stroll or monorail ride to the GF and CR where there are several incredible dining options. Getting a lagoon view room generally gives a view of Cinderellas castle, which gently changes colors throughout the night.

And the AKL is the ultimate in exotic luxury. Again, I highly recommend the concierge level if it can fit into the budget. There are two tours especially created for CL guests at the AKL, and they would be memorable experiences. The Sunset Safari is limited to guests age 16 and up, so might be more suited to a romantic experience for you.

Ask away if you have any other questions, and let us know what you decide!

My choice for an anniversary trip would be the Grand Floridian. It is very romantic and has on-site access to the monorails.:earsboy:

We celebrated our 20th at the Yacht Club Concierge Waterview at the end of August. This resort is our favorite - a short walk to Epcot and convenient to MGM. The pool is outstanding and the service impeccable. Upon arrival, we discovered balloons, an anniversary card and collector pin in our room which was spacious and had an absolutely wonderful view of the Boardwalk. O and the massage at the health spa was so relaxing! We would stay at the Yacht Club again in a heartbeat!!!

I've only seen the lobby and haven't stayed there, but the Boardwalk Inn seems very elegant without being the fancypants destination that the Grand Floridian is. Seems romantic and then there is also the clubs and stuff so closeby and the wonderful restaurants at Epcot within walking distance as well.
