We are booking for next year! Looking at verandah on the Fantasy with a 14, 12, and 6 year old. Which deck would you choose and why? (Aft is only available)

also, was there a better place to post this? it's been so long since I've been on disboards.

Ive always been a fan of Deck 9, port side. Deck 9 - because my son is very tall (6'6") and he prefers the Murphy bed in some of the deluxe family staterooms....and starboard side, because we like the views of some of the ports from the port side (castaway cay is a prime example).

We are a family of five (almost the same ages) who get a verandah room. We've been on Deck 7, which we think is great because it's right between the kids club level and the pool deck. But I am sure any deck would be great :)

Since Disney backs in at Castaway Cay, the views of Castaway Cay's beachs and activities are on the Starboard Side. From the Port Side you have a great view of the Castaway Cay dock and docking operations.

yall are fantastic! I was thinking deck 8 or 9 but there was one deck 10 open....I wondered if this was a noise issue. I'm going to go with 8 or 9 depending on my TA's advice. I've never used a TA bc I'm kinda a control freak about planning for Disney but I don't have much DCL under my belt or time to plan so I figured a TA can't hurt. If anyone wants to correct me on this, feel free!

Congratulations on your deck 9 booking. We have sailed quite a few times with our 3 kids on the Dream and Fantasy, and we have always stayed deck 10 midship except for one cruise. Although you may hear some noise from people on deck 11, it was not something that really bothered us. Plus, we tended to get up fairly early and stay up pretty late. We actually liked having the deck 11 overhang over our balcony because it provided cover so we could still sit outside and enjoy the view even if it was raining or really sunny. Midship also had much less noticeable movement compared to the one time when we were in a forward cabin. This is important for us as we discovered that one of our kids is pretty sensitive to motion.

I really wish we could have gotten midship for the same reason!

I'd go as high as possible. We had an aft verandah deck 5 (over Dumbo) and the (well-known) vibration issue was horrible! Never again!!

We prefer deck 9 aft. Either side is fine. One side gets a good view of Castaway Cay; the other side gets a good view of the ocean. I can't remember which side it is, but I do remember some noise early in the morning at Port Canaveral. It wasn't terrible though. Plus, you want to make sure that you have your curtains closed at port, no matter which side, if you sleep in the buff or plan to come of the bathroom unclothed. That's always a fun surprise  I suspect if you pick the side away from Port Canaveral, then you will be near the dockside at some other port. We have noticed slight vibration on deck 9 aft, but nothing serious, even when we were booking away from a tropical storm near Cozumel. It's actually very relaxing for sleep, because there's a slight rocking motion.

For the fantasy, because the vibration issue gets worse the further back you go, I'd go with whatever deck has a room closest to midship (recognize it would still be "aft" technically, but better to be on the midship end of aft rather than all the way at the back of the ship).
