We will be in OC for two weeks. We know the parks will be insanely crowded but which days would you visit which parks? We will have 5 day, non hopper tickets. Will not be able to go the 24th or 25th and need at least two of the days to be after Christmas when friends will join us. Sounds complicated right? Also, we are staying 12 miles away so mid-day breaks are not workable. Our kids are 10 and 12 though so all day in the parks works for us. Thanks for any advice!

You already say Christmas is out. How about 31st? It would be super crowded just so you know.

I would do two days before Christmas so you can see more of the holiday stuff before Christmas and then three days after Christmas so may the 26th 28th and 30th? The reason i am doing days spread out is because of you being so far from the parks and not being able to do do mid day breaks and then late nights. I wouldn't want to do two in a row. Do rope drop when you can you will get 2-3 hours short lines. Make sure your at the gate and hour to an hour in half before the parks open.

The 26th is always more than "busy". It is usually a shock to people. On the 26th, they introduce the Rose Bowl teams in front of the castle. Walkways are blocked making it feel even more crowded.

We will be there the same time frame (the 18th to Jan 3). We usually take either the 26th or 27th off as a hotel day. I would do 3 days before Christmas and 2 after. Reminder - Santa will only be out for "Meet and Greet" prior to Christmas. Make sure to check out the lobby of the Grand Cal also.

Agree with Malcon10t, the 26 and 27 are really super crazy. So is the 31st. Unless you really want or need to be in the parks those days, I would avoid.

As to which parks which days, I am not sure it matters that much. Everyday is going to be packed. You might find a bit of relief going to park that did not have early entry that morning, but it probably won't matter as the day goes on.

Most people do 3 days at DL and 2 at DCA.

Just go into knowing that things will take longer. And if possible, I would schedule a nice sit down meal for the middle of the day. So it would be a priority for me to make reservations. If you are not leaving the parks, it helps to have a little respite. And those tables will be at a premium, so you will definitely need a reservation.

Otherwise, pack your patience and holiday spirit. :santa:

Are you returning home on the 31st? If so, is it feasible to switch to a DLR area hotel for the 29th and 30th? You'd save a little on parking and it would be less hassle if you can walk to the parks. Then if the crowds are heavy or you're tired from the whole trip at that point you have the mid day break option. And if you do go open to close at least you have a room nearby and get a to sleep in a little bit longer before the second park day.

An exception would be any rainy day!!!

If it rains the 26-31, crowds do dissipate.

Very true! Weather can impact crowds. If it is rainy for a few days and then sunny, expect the sunny day to be very crowded as people were likely waiting for better weather. Californians don't like rain much, lol. :p
