Hi just over 2 weeks now til our dream trip. We ve been trying to plan what days to do disney parks. We re staying off site, and i read somewhere to avoid EMH days. Will this really make much difference to the crowds? We always get there early to avoid the rush, but have never been in July before. I really want to see the pre show at MK. Wishes and Fantasmic. Any advice? Also are the water parks much busier on weekends? Thanks.

Ive never heard that the parks get busier on EMH days and when we stayed off site never had any problems, but as it is something I have never looked into I may be wrong. However, the water parks do get busy at the weekends as lots of floridians have annual passes and as they work during the week they 'splash' at the weekend.

Have a magical trip:)

We stay onsite but we still always avoid the EMH parks, we went to a couple our first trip and the parks were so so crowded we always now work our itinerary to avoid them, we always go in August though, other times of year may differ

All the guide books I've read have also recommended that you avoid them!

Like DisneyJo we also avoid EMH in the morning. In the guides I have read it suggests that oarks with EMH get much busier by mid to late morning because in addition to the normal crowd volume, there is the additonal volume of Disney resort guests which do take advantage of EMH.

We have done EMH in the evening at AK and MK and that worked well for us but that was at quieter times in the year

My number one rule (and the greatest single tip I'd give anyone whether staying onsite or off) has always been to avoid EMH at all costs. Of course, some people want to take advantage of the extra hours afforded them which is, of course, their prerogative.

If your priority is to avoid crowds then the EMHs are absolutely your best friend - as long as you plan to avoid them. They have the effect of funnelling a disproportionate number of guests on any given day to the designated park. That makes the non-EMH parks quieter than they would otherwise be if there were no such "perk" for onsite guests.

There has been more than one occasion when we've come back from a trip at the same time as others here. They've reported long wait times, when we've experienced none. I'm sure you can guess what the difference has been.

There are a couple of exceptions I'd make when staying onsite. I'd consider an AK evening EMH because this is possibly the only way of experiencing the park after dark. Also, because we're Annual Passholders (which gives us the ability to dip in and out of parks without feeling we've wasted a day's ticket) I might consider visiting a park during the evening very late on to experience being able to wander around in a relatively empty park (I'm thinking, arriving close to midnight when the parks are open until 2am).

Have a great trip, Sarah! :)

I would if I was you invest in the tourguidemike web site,

I have and it tells you which park which days, and even which rides in what order,

the amount of info on there is truly awesome.

But your not allowed to tell anyone what youknow so I can't divulge except recommend him ! sorry

I use Tourguide Mike too-we followed his advise last year (Aug) and it worked like a dream. The one time we went to a park he said to avoid we wished we hadn't:scared1:

What we do (and most others who are 'in the know') is to get to parks for rope-drop (when they open). Know where we are going for the 1st 3-4 rides normally getting the 'big' rides out of the way. Then we slow the pace and do the less 'popular rides'.

If a park starts gettin too busy and we're not enjoying it anymore we leave-mind you we have the ultimate ticket - so can go in and out as much as we like-so we go to a park most days. When we only have 5 park hopper we go for long days at the parks and have 'rest days' in between.

Every-one does it different-it depends what's best for your family:thumbsup2

We go to a few morning EMH's mainly during the first week, get loads done, early lunch & leave around 12.0. On our last trip we went to AK emh the first week and the day after (as rec) emh the second, it was really crowded as lots of school trip were in, as judged a quiet day & we spent ages queuing. Based on this we are going to do the emh this year. Have done a couple of evenings at MK & it is really crowded, we only last till midnight & i believe it empties then.

Thanks for all your replys, definately going to MK on a no EMH day, but might have to do MGM on a evening Emh day, but will be there for rope and then go back to our resort for a cool off and back for Fantasmic. I can't believe 2 weeks today we ll be there. We re off to Sarasota for a week first, then 2 weeks in Orlando.  :banana:Feel all funny when i think about it!!! lol.
