This will be our 2nd cruise to the Bahamas coming up in November. What would you recommend next? I am thinking of Alaska

Although more limited than some cruise lines since there are (currently) only four ships, DCL still has a number of options available, both in terms of itineraries and length of cruise.

How long a cruise are you interested in doing? Most of the Alaska sailings and the Eastern and Western Caribbean sailings are 7 nights. Different ships with the Wonder in Alaska and the Fantasy for the 7-night Caribbean cruises. Long cruise options (our personal favorites) include the Panama Canal cruises on the Wonder and the transatlantic cruises on the Magic.

What did you particularly enjoy about the Bahamas cruises? Are you interested in visiting a variety of ports? Doing sightseeing excursions or more active excursions? Lots of factors that might influence your selection.

Remember, any cruise is apt to be a great vacation experience!

We loved our 7-night DCL Alaska cruise. It was fantastic. I hope we'll be able to do a 9-night Alaska cruise in 2021. Vancouver is a wonderful city to sail from.

Alaska was truly amazing and my favorite cruise so far. I’m already dreaming about going back again!

We also loved Alaska. A cruise that’s not often mentioned is the Mexican Riviera cruise on the Wonder that starts in San Diego. We did this cruise when our kids were younger and it was really fun. It felt less crowded, even though we went during a school break. I think that’s because the California schools are on a different schedule. The San Diego area has lots for kids, too. Plus, of course, Disneyland!

I will honestly tell you that we have enjoyed every one of our cruises - Bahamas, Eastern & Western Caribbean, Alaska, Panama Canal...... I would definitely do any of them again, although Bahamas is now my "only if I have no other choice" itinerary. Alaska was amazing - but expensive if you really want to "do it right" (in my opinion). Excursions are wonderful, but pricey. When we went to Alaska, we took my mom & her husband as a "thank you" for all of the help they provided while our daughter was growing up. They were getting older and were at the stage where they wouldn't likely travel much in the future, so we decided to treat it as a "once in a lifetime" cruise for the,. We did a float plane excursion over glaciers to Taku Lodge, sis a dog sled excursion, did the train and saw the Yukon trail...etc. It was an AMAZING trip! I would love to go to Alaska again even if I did no excursions at all and just soaked up the scenery - so beautiful and majestic!

My absolute favorite cruises so far have been Panama Canal. Although we have done EB & WB, I prefer the Eastbound. I love the long cruise, the sea days, the interesting ports.... I would love to do some of the European Itineraries, but they are pricey as well and the airfare can be a killer for us. I suspect that, if we opt to do a European or Mediterranean itinerary, we may opt for a cruise line other than DCL as, to me, those itineraries are more about the ports than the ship, and other cruise lines have much more cost-effective pricing, which would help offset expensive airfare. It's tough for me to pull the trigger on another line, though - I have only cruised DCL, so I feel like I've set my expectations pretty high. We'll see.:)

We have done a bunch of cruises to the Bahamas-just because we are East coast and it is so darn easy. And Bermuda too- on another line. Last year we went to Alaska. I have to say, so far, Alaska, my fave. From the east, not the cheapest place to get to, but it can be done without blowing the budget. There are many excursions that are very expensive, but as ahain said, the scenery is breathtaking, plenty to do, once again w/o budget busting. Looking forward to more cruises, exploring more parts of the DCL itinerary, but you can't go wrong with Alaska.

We have done most itineraries it seems. Been to the Caribbean islands all several times and rarely get off the ship now. We have done the Baltic, norway, Iceland, transatlantic, México, several med cruises and Greece. And Alaska, loved them all for different reasons. While we loved the Alaska cruise I would not do Disney again in Alaska, you don’t get that far up because you leave and return from the same port. I would prefer a princess or other line that goes one way so you can go to Glacier Bay and take a few extra days in Denali.

We absolutely loved the Greece cruise because we left from and returned to Venice. The Greece cruise they ar doing next year doesn’t hit Venice. We have als9 done Greece on another line and you did see more islands on that one.

We have decided to never do a cruise less than 9 days and preferably more, so our Disney cruises are getting more limited. While we have done the Panama Canal cruise on another line I would definitely consider Disney to do it again.

And the Transatlantic from Dover to NYC was wonderful. We love days at sea, the weather was great and the entertainment options were terrific. I would definitely do that one again or try the western version.

The one itinerary we haven’t done is Hawaii. I would love that one too if we could stop in Hawaii and go to aulani, which we love.

I think it's great you're thinking about trying something new. There are so many interesting itineraries out there. Alaska was wonderful and was our favorite until we took the Norway/Iceland/Scotland one, which was incredible. I would love to take a PC cruise but DCL's itineraries don't stop at many of the ports that the other cruise lines do, so I'm passing on booking that one for now.

Have a fun cruise, and good luck planning the next one. :)
