Which crowd calendar do you trust the most?

Thanks for the input everyone. I received my crowd predictor update from TP this morning. I compared to KTP and the predictions are conflicting.

I’m going to stick with my original schedule. Sunday is our FP day.

For my upcoming trip TP and KTP conflict a bit too.

I'm trusting TP though...fingers crossed!

Just curious, which one do you think is the most accurate?

None since Josh stopped doing them :). The one I trust the least is Touring Plans, cause they're usually about 6-12 months behind the curve with changing scenarios

One of the reasons those two often don't agree is that KTP bases his predictions on actual number of people in the parks while TP uses an alogarithm to calculate crowds based on wait times for rides. Just FYI, since they base their predictions on different information, they rarely match up.

TP has recently changed their algorithm to be more relative to recent crowd levels instead of an absolute scale. It's too soon to tell of that's going to be more useful or not.

I subscribe to both TP and character locator. They both have good and bad points. One thing I don't like about KTPs crowd calendar is the color code. It gives me the feeling that I'm going to be a-ok fine on green days and 'oh god oh god we're all gonna die' on red days. In reality there may be a very small difference between parks on those days (but sometimes it is a significant difference). I feel I have to go to TP to feel 'safe' on the times when I need to go against the recommended park. In fairness, nowhere does he say that, but the colors give me that feeling. I prefer being able to see the numbers so I can decide for myself if the difference is worth worrying about or not.

One thing I noticed on my trip dates is KtP says MK isn’t recommended due to EMM. It’s been reported all over the DIS that it doesn’t affect crowd levels. Felt like he just needed to pick a red day for Labor Day week. I’ve felt that his “red days” weren’t all that bad in the past. This is when I stopped using it as a planning tool.

ETA: I really prefer Character Locator touring plans to the TP ones. It’s just crowd calendars that I don’t use as gospel.

The amount of science and analysis Touring plans does is impressive. But even they admit that they are having trouble keeping up with all the changes and adjustments Disney is making. I still think touring plans crowd calander is worth considering but outside of holidays I have pretty much quit using crowd calanders to decide when to visit.

I've quit using them to plan too. We just went 1/28-2/04 and it felt as crowded as summer -- that was my breaking point. We're just going to start going when it works best for us and quit worrying about what the calendars say. I'm starting to think that going in the summer is the way to go.

We're going in summer for the 2nd year in a row. I agree, it's crowded all year now. June 7 we had planned to go to HS. TP said don't go and KTP said it's a green day. I'm going anyway. It just works for us. I don't want to make it more complicated than it is.

Looking forward to making my FPs tomorrow and being done with the planning!

None of them are precise. I think there are too many variables that have come into play -- ride staffing (as pointed out by touring plans), discounts that draw people in at different times, tiered pricing -- I have a touring plans subscription and have my plans in them so with our trip being next week I will be curious to see how close the wait times are compared to what they predict.

I don't trust any of them. I used them years ago and was burned for trusting them. I then stopped using them and have had great results, so I never looked back.

Everyone's online now, so when you see a crowd calendar predicting low crowds, thousands of others see it, too, and that makes those dates more crowded than they otherwise would have been. That's why fall at WDW is a madhouse now.

I made my own.

Every weekday is an 8.

Weekends are a 9.

Holidays are 10’s.

:rotfl2:...what diavender said seems to be my experience this winter.

We always go late Oct to early Nov and know what to expect crowd-wise so we're just looking to avoid the heaviest crowd, whatever 'heavy' might mean.

Like Bill from PA, I like to check a crowd calendar to identify quieter weeks. I have found the weekly calendar on ************** to be helpful.
