Which counter service in MGM?

we think we are going to be grabbing CS lunch in MGM 2 times this trip-we leave next week!! Which ones do you like? We have only ever done TS lunches at MGM (Sci-Fi, Primetime). We are 2 adults and 3 kids who are not very picky. My boys want to try Pizza Planet-how is it? Is there anything better?

Me & DW enjoy the cheese pizza/salad combo at Pizza Planet. No young kids, so we like to sit at the outside tables and people watch while we eat.

they actually have a pretty decent cuban sandwich and a chocolate mousse type dessert at the ABC Commissary, but i would not push it must past that.

We always eat at the ABC Commissary. I have read repeatedly over the years how much everyone hates the place, but we have always liked it. Go figure. There is always something a little different to choose from, and it is large enough that there is plenty of seating.

We liked Pizza Planet. We were on the dining plan, so we had a salad, individual pizza and a Mickey shaped rice krispie treat for dessert. It was all pretty good. We sat upstairs and ate, and then headed down to play in the arcade. It was definitely a nice change of pace.
We also enjoyed the Commissary. I had the fish and fries and an almond Hagaan Daz ice cream bar for dessert. My boys had the Chinese style noodles. Too many vegetables in it for them, tasted okay, but we've definitely had better.

not exactly counter service but we always have stuffed pretzels and a coke. me cinnamon and apple, dh cream cheese and jalapeno peppers. these are from the concession by the lake. there are picnic tables in the area to eat at. yummy

IMO~ If your fam enjoys Chuck E Cheese's, then you'll be fine at Pizza Planet

We enjoy Pizza Planet. We like to eat up stairs at a table by the window. We are a family of 3 adults and 2 kids and usually split 3 pizzas and two salads. The Backlot Express is a good choice also.

Ugh, no we don't like Chuck E Cheese, but if the kids will really like it I guess I can do it one day. Maybe we will try the Backlot Express or the ABC Commissary the other day. We have late ADR's for dinner both those days, so the kids will really have to eat lunch in order to make it!

We love Pizza Planet. I have 2 boys so we always go there. The pizza is surprisingly pretty good and the salads are great! We are a family of 4, we always split 2 pizzas and 2 salads, works out well for us. And I would also reccommend going upstairs and getting a table by the window. Last time we were there, we were the only ones upstairs. We had a nice, quiet, relaxing time. Your boys will love it!

None of them are really GREAT. Pizza Planet is probably the best choice.

In my opinion MGM has the worst CS of any of the parks. That said, we ate at Backlot Express in October and enjoyed it. DH and DS had cheeseburger meals and pie, and I had chicken fingers and pudding. Our expectations were not high and we were not disappointed.

We really like the Backlot Express. I really love the Turkey with Arugala and Roasted Red Pepper Sandwich! They have burgers, chicken fingers, etc. as well. The portions are large and the food is good. Our family doesn't have fancy tastes, so this CS is excellent IMHO. You can find all the menus for the restaurants at the parks at allearsnet.com if you want to look them over before you decide.
