I am just wondering if anyone knows which Costco it will be best to stop at to buy the AP's. We will be driving to Disneyland from Utah, going through Vegas.

Also, we are stoping over in Mesquite. Is there bad time to be on the stretch of road from Vegas to California on a Sunday morning? Just wondering if traffic will be heavy from people going home after a weekend away.

Hello fellow Utahn! We stopped and bought our passes at the Rancho Cucamonga Costco in October. It's right off the freeway and you can even see it from the freeway. We love  Rancho Cuc!

As far as driving between Vegas and Anaheim, we are usually heading home on Sunday mornings and the traffic seems to be horrendous no matter what time it is on a Sunday. We usually leave Anaheim around 7 am and it seems pretty bad but I'm not exactly sure what time it starts getting really bad. If at all possible, I would avoid traveling on Sunday morning at all. If you can't do that then I would leave as early as you possibly can, I'm sure the earlier the better. Do you have to stay in Mesquite? Maybe you could stop in Primm instead and that would allow you to get an earlier start thus missing the traffic. Just a suggestion. We've been passholders for the past three years so we've made this trip quite a few times and we'd be glad to help with any other questions. DH could probably drive there in his sleep.

CandCMommy we have a coupon for a free nights stay so that is why we are staying in Mesquite instead of Primm. We aren't actually going to be in a big rush to get to Disneyland as early as possible. Do you know if leaving from Mesquite more around 9 or 10 am would be any better than going at 7 or 8? We could even poosibly wait till 11 if it will shorten drive time. Who knows we might be up early naturally and be on the road early. How long do you think it will take on a Sunday morning to get from Mesquite to Anaheim? Will traffic be bad the whole way or if not at what point does it get bad? Does it start going really slow or is it just heavy? I really have no clue what to expect since we've only driven as far as Vegas before. Also, do you know of better places to gas up?

I was just talking to my DH about this and we both think the earlier the better for avoiding traffic! The road between Vegas and all the way to about Rancho Cucamonga is extrememly crowded it seems. I remember always thinking to myself, I'm glad I'm not going that direction. If I remember correctly, the traffic goes back and forth between slow, like 30 mph, and a little faster but extrememly heavy. The strech between Primm and San Bernardino county seems to be the worst.

I'm not sure what kind of car you have but if you can make it to Hesperia or Victorville that would be the best place to gas up. Barstow which is a little closer to Baker is more expensive. We generally stop in Vegas and fill up and that gets us all the way to Anaheim so that's another option too. Once you pass Primm, towns are few and far between so make sure you don't need gas while you're out in the desert.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

Because of the economy, the drive back from Vegas hasn't been as bad lately. I agree w/ CandCMommy that the earlier the better. The traffic gets worst, the longer you wait.

When are you going? Soon? Holiday weekend? The time of year matters too. Also during the winter (if you call this weather winter), the traffic gets better because the "river people" don't travel this time of year.

Are the Costco AP'sout there still?

I can assume I can take them to DLR and upgrade to Premium, right?

I would call ahead, but I'm sure some stores still have them. We got ours in Rancho Cucamonga.

Yes, we upgraded ours to Premium.

There's also a Costco at the 91 and Wier Canyon (Savi Ranch - Yorba Linda). It was in the heart of the fire, but the store is okay.

We will be doing the Mesquite to Anaheim leg on Nov. 30th which is a Sunday. It sounds like we just need to get an early start.
