DH and I are dying to see him in concert. I'm doubled over and crying from laughing so hard when he is on TV, I can't imagine what he is like in person!

DH and I are dying to see him in concert. I'm doubled over and crying from laughing so hard when he is on TV, I can't imagine what he is like in person!

In person = uncensored. And love all the crowd participation. We've seen him twice and they were both unbelievably funny shows (last time was at Hard Rock Orlando at Universal!)

Chicago and the Doobie Brothers at Northerly Island in Chicago. These two bands epitomize summer music to me and seeing them (playing to the hometown crowd) on the lakefront on a gorgeous night with the DH was spectacular.

Our friend's brother is the owner/manager of Chicago - so along with our VIP seats, we had backstage passes too. The backstage consisted of mobile trailers for their dressing rooms, outdoor fire pits, buffet. Both bands (when they weren't playing) were just hanging outside tuning their instruments and chatting it up with the rest of us.

A night to remember for sure

I can say without a doubt Garth Brooks puts on the best show ever !

The best times I ever have though are seeing Rick Springfield ! Where else can you see a bunch of 40 somethings screaming and pushing to try to get to the front of the stage .

When we saw KC & the Sunshine band. My wife and I were laughing so hard... and we LOVED the show.

To be honest, seeing bits and pieces of the show on TV give it NO justice. I think you just have to be in the theater to appreciate it.

You're probably right -- it's just hard for me to envision their music that way.

Rick was my first concert (or one of my first) -- and I've seen him a few times as an adult (although, it's been a few years). And I agree, he puts on one heck of a show!

Adam Lambert July 9, 2010- His concert was awesome. Put 2500 of his fans in one room and have them sing and dance along with him. His show was memorable and I am now ruined after seeing him live.

American Idols Concert August 23,2009- That whole season was amazing and they put on a great show. I even enjoyed a few of the contestants that I had not during the show.

Bon Jovi's Have a Nice day Tour- My first real rock concert and while I liked them before this sealed my love comepletely. Great energy.

Yes, it would definitely have to be politics aside for these two since they're completely on the opposite sides of the spectrum with their political views. My friend who lives in NJ, sent me the article last week about how Billie Joe was going to be performing in approx. 7 performances for the Broadway show. She said, "If that isn't a reason to take a whirlwhind trip to NYC, I don't know what it is." However, I had to politely inform her that that would be the LAST reason to get me to NYC. I've seen the Broadway performances on some live shows (NY half-time game; Grammy awards, etc.) and to be frank, I hate it. Both American Idiot and 21st Century Breakdown are too recent to move to that format, IMO -- I would rather it go the way of The Who's "Tommy" -- with a movie first, then maybe a musical later. It's just too cheesy for me and I really dislike it. However, I am jealous you got to see him live recently -- it's been over a year for me -- sniff, sniff.

snappyd is absolutely correct - the performances you saw did NOT do it justice! We saw it Sat. night and it blew us away. If you like their music, you would have loved this show!!!! We were like your friend, and decided it was time for that"whirlwind trip"!

Back to concerts - in the '80 I saw Cher, John Cougar Mellencamp, Chicago, The Moody Blues, Tom Petty, Heart, Stevie Nicks. My least favorite was Cher, it was awful. I think Heart was my favorite back then.

we had a couple awesome things happen, so I am gonna pm you!

my other favorites: Bowie twice, Ziggy Marley opened for INXS and we didn't want them to get off the stage, REM, and the college show for Squeeze where no one showed up (so we were front and center with Difford and Tillbrook) and Flock of Seagulls opened - no one had seen them before and we were like "what the heck?"

Hearing my husband and my two kids sing along was a huge thrill for me.

I would LOVE to see Aerosmith.

I took my DD to see NYSYC years ago....it was really a fun concert.
