I'd prefer something simple and easy.

State Farm's online thing was asking so many questions, half of which I don't have the answers to as I don't own the building.

Anyone know of a reputable company that is simple to set up?

I go through my State Farm agent. When it was set up my parents were paying it for me and got a multi-policy discount through them since they had their homeowners insurance through them. Now I have my auto insurance and take the multi-policy discount.

For renters insurance, pretty much every company is going to want to know how old the building is and such information.

First try whoever you have another line of insurance with (life, auto) as there may a discount involved. Often times we can sell a renters policy and the discount that is then given to the auto policy totally offsets the cost of the renters, hence 2 policies for about the same money.

We have ours through State Farm since that's who we have our auto with...we get a discount that way. Yes, they do need to know a lot of questions re the property, fire hydrants, fire stations, alarmsystem, etc. We just went through all of this again for our homeowners insurance and I forgot what a pain it was!
