Which coaster next should I try?

Anybody that has problems with motion sickness try these? I can go on Space Mountain but don't get me near a carousel! Anything that goes around will bother me. I tried Star Tours -it definately bothered me. I love roller coasters but I don't like going upside down. Do you think RNR will bother me? I was told by someone to stay away from Test track that it does go around curves ( I get car sick if the road twists and turns alot). I try to do one new ride each trip.

I have not tried RNR either, and am trying to get the courage up. The upside down thing scares me a bit, I will admit. I have done Space and BTMRR several times. I am afraid of heights but those dont bother me in the least. You dont really feel like you are up high on those. I was actually more tense on Goofy ( :sad2: ) because I could tell i was up a bit. I have also done Splash Mountain once. Loved the ride after I did it, but havent been back on since. My older kids go on these rides with no fear at all. I wish i was like that.

As far as motion sickeness goes, the only thing that ever really effected me in that department was Mission Space. During the ride was fine, but about ten minutes afterward I felt lousy and it lasted for a good hour or so. I have never experienced motion sickness with the coasters though.

Drumflower - Have you left yet? We just got back tonight. I rode space mountain. I'm glad I did it, but it was not my favorite. It has fast

I leave on Feb. 3rd and will be trying Universal for 2 days before Disney. I am going to do the Mummy ride and the Spiderman ride before I go to Disney! I just deceided to do everything , and you know my kids who are 8 and 9 are starting to be more brave! It is true that your kids learn their fear from their parents! lol
I will let you know who it goes! :cool1:

Hey Drumflower -- best of luck to you!
I too will be at the "other area" a few days before heading over to POFQ and also will be trying Mummy for the first time. If we do run into each other afterwards we can give each other congrats!

:sunny: When are you going? I don't know if anyone in my family will ride with me because they might chicken out! :teeth: I just hope I don't have to ride the mummy alone! :bitelip: :bitelip:

Space Mountain is kind of stange in that the top speed is only 28 miles an hour, but it feels like you are going SO much faster!

I hate big drops but love Rockin' Roller Coaster at MGM. It's fast and does some rolls but it is smooth. I can't go on Space mtn because of the rough ride.
My teen son gave me some advice a couple of years ago to endure the big drop at Splash that did help me...he said to tighten my stomach in before the drop and it lessens the sensation that happens in your stomach. I have been doing that and now can do splash mtn at WDW and Jurassic Park river ride at IOA without panicking. I don't know if it would work for you, but it's worth a try.

And DEFINITELY do the Mummy ride at US...it is AWESOME!!

I'll be in "mummyland" on 2/5 but unfortunately can't say what time at what place because it's the only day I'll be touring with other people. They are "locals" plus employees of the place so Lord only knows what they'll have in mind. We'd have a better shot at hooking up for MK's Splash or Space Mountain, or Rockin Roller at MGM once at POFQ.

My 11yo and I got back from WDW last night. He was SO nervous about trying RnR. I told him he should go at least twice--the first time he'd be nervous and the second time would allow him to just sit back and give it a try knowing he'd be ok. He went the first time and loved it! We ended up going on it 17 times and he wanted to spend most of his time at MGM. UGH, I created a monster! I'm fine doing it once or twice, but not 17 times. We went to ToT 15 times, beating my record of 13 times.

I have problems w/motion sickness. I usually take 1 bonine every morning before the parks. Even with the bonine I won't do star tours or body wars(once was enough!). RNR was much better than space mountain from a motion sickness perspective. If you can ride space mountain, RNR will be OK. I fealt very slightly queasy after RNR. Much less so than space mountain. The upside down thing was not bad at all. Because it was dark, you only knew you were upside down because of the feel of the harness pushing on your body. Test track was no problem for me at all.

Mission space -- that's another story. One more second in that thing and I would have lost it (this is with taking bonine!). After I got out I sat in a chair for 5 - 10 minutes, and then lied down on a bench outside for 1/2 hour. We went over to ice station cool and the ginger ale helped. After walking around for a while, we left EPCOT and I rested in our room for a few hours. I perked up enough to go to fantasmic, but I really didn't fully recover until the next day :earseek: Never again!!! DH has motion sickness issues too can't ride carousel etc. He was fine on mission space. Go figure!

You can! You can! My girls were so proud of me. It was great for all 4 of us to ride SM and RNR together. I the RNR ride photo can out great! We rode everything at WDW together except TOT. My youngest DD and I passed on that one. My only regret is riding mission space. It really ruined my whole day! I never imagined it would affect me so badly.

Wow, that's alot of rides on RNR! I'm glad he liked it. I didn't try it until late in our trip so I only got to ride once. I would have liked to ride again.

I have the same problem with drops on coasters. :scared1: The last time we went to Disney, I was too afraid to ride either Rock 'n' Roller Coaster or Space Mountain. Now that I've gone on more rides I am definitely ready to go on both Space & Splash Mountains, but not sure about Rock 'n' Roller Coaster. I know it's about the inversions, not the drops, but I'm not sure if I'm brave enough. I don't mind going upside down like on Tomb Raider The Ride at Paramount's Kings Island in Cincinnati, Ohio. I just have never been on a roller coaster that goes upside down. I won't mind the dark either. Do you think I am ready for Rock 'n' Roller Coaster? :scared:

~> Revenge of the Mummy at USF is one of my very favorite rides. It's not that scary. I was more scared at the beginning with the mummies than the actual coaster parts. There are 3 or 4 drops & they do tend to get your stomach a bit, but they are not that big.

~> Is Dueling Dragons at IOA worse than Rock 'n' Roller Coaster?

From what I've heard Dueling Dragons (especially the red one) is much more intense than R n' R.

I don't have experience with the tomb raider or mummy. But I really liked RNR. It was a lot more enjoyable than space mountain. It is hard to explain, but the inversions were so fast you really didn't know what was happening.

Dueling Dragons is way more intense that RnR! DD is my favorite roller coaster, but the first couple times on it I was scared to death when the ride began. RnR is fast and since it's indoors it's not quite as scary since you can't see the drops. It reminds be of Mummy coaster, but with inversions.

try the woody woodpecker coaster @ universal or the magic unicorn @ IOA. both are pretty neat and the drops are small.
