So which character breakfast would you choose for a first time visitor and why?

Claire ;)

My order of preference would be....

1. Crystal Palace - classic Disney and beautiful - great food too.

2. 1900 Park Fare - again classic Disney, great food but lacking the castle that you get with Crystal Palace!

3. O'Hana - great food and less chaotic than a buffet.

4. Cape May @ Beach Club - was too crowded for our tastes.

Not our first time but first time onsite and doing Disney dining and we're going for Chef Mickeys before heading into Magic Kingdom.
What characters do they like? That'll be the major factor I guess :)

:goodvibes

For a first time:
Chef Mickey

others we would love to do again:
Donald at Tusker House (Animal Kingdom)
Ohana
and Cape May

For the last 2, we had really late reservations, pretty much the end of breakfast service, so loads of people had already left. This meant we got a lot more time with the characters than others. :thumbsup2

ultimate first character meal forr me would have to be a pre rope drop CRT.
however if not then id go with ohanas with stitch and lilo, or if you want a classic meal chef mickey bfast, which is better than dinner imho.
crystal palace is the best food with a charcater meal, and decor is great, but its big and loud and slow, so it depends on what you want!
we have done them all so feel free to ask!!
are you on the ddp? id go with crt if you are...

My faves are Chef Mickey's (fun atmosphere at the Contemporary Resort), Crystal Palace (delish buffet with Pooh & friends, and a great way to start the day at the Magic Kingdom) and finally breakfast with Lilo & Stitch at the Polynesian Resort (I love the food here and of course there's Stitch !!) :)

I guess it would depend on what characters they are 'in to'
Personally we would do CP because of DWs love of all things Tigger - but even if we didn't think too much of the characters there we would do it at least once a trip just to get into the park before rope drop and get a picture in front of the castle minus the masses. We did this on our wedding anniversary and got some really good shots.
We have also done Chef Mickeys - and would say this is a good one for meeting the Fab Five - and Park Fayre, which was good for Alice, Mad Hatter, Mary Poppins, Pooh and Tigger (they do get around those 2)
I would also say that as long as you go with the opinion that you are paying for the interaction with the characters, and so is everyone else so expect it to be busy, you wont be dissapointed.

1. Chef Mickeys for younger visitors as it's so much fun for them.
2. Crystal Palace - MK - just because it's in the Magic Kingdom

My favorite is chef mickeys followed closely by crystal palace. Great food at CP.Never done breakfast at ohana but may well do so as I loooooooooooooooove stitch. Also liked the garden grill.

Another vote for Chef Mickeys
although as Tracy said...if you can get an early ADR for CRT on a non EMH morning, it is something special walking up Main Street with no crowds.

We have only done Ohana and Chef Mickeys and Ohana is our favorite by miles.

The setting is lovely, the food really good and we had better character interaction.

I felt really rushed at CM and I thought the dinning room looked like a school canteen.

We are hoping to do an early CP,CRT, 1900 Park Fare and Donald breakfast with a lunch time Garden Grill in October.

we Love our character meals !!

Garden Grill only serves dinner now - but if you can get a slightly later time you will get great character interaction as the restuarant starts to empty :goodvibes

Claire - I would go with Chef Mickeys for the Fab 5 as they are the classic character and seeing the monorail running through the Contemporary can not fail to impress :thumbsup2

we found chef mickeys to have gone down hill a bit last year so i wouldnt vote for that but we loved donalds breakfast in animal kingdom as it has similar characters to chef mickeys

crystal palace is always a fave of mine

this year we are trying ohana breakfast, 1900 park fare and a few others that i cant think of for our 9 month old twins

I'd agree with this, we were there for the first time for our honeymoon last year and did CRT on our first day.

Walking into the park almost empty in the early morning then going into the castle was special.

This year on our first day e are doing Chef Mickeys then heading to MK

Another vote for CRT :thumbsup2 It is the ultimate place of WDW and a first time visit.

Akershus would be our 2nd choice.

Both of these if you have girls particularly cause of the princesses.

Glad to hear it. I specifically requested late ressies for both Ohana and Cape May due to late-ish nights the previous evening and got 10.40 and 10 55 am respectively. I have had moments of doubt as to whether that was a good decision, but you have put my mind at rest. :) Was there still a good range of fresh food on the buffet at the late seatings at Cape May (Ohana being family style is less if a consideration in this respect)?

We don't think you can beat Chef Mickeys for the first time as you see Mickey and friends, but for Pooh fans Crystal Palace is a close second with the added bonus of already being in the park once you've finished.

For me it would be CRT or Crystal Palace. Magic Kingdom is just that 'Magical'. I don't feel like we are in Disney until i have been there.
We always do Crystal Palace for breakfast on our first day around 8.15am ... main street is quiet and we get some great photo opportunities :goodvibes
