Ok, my DD is still under 1, but we are planning her first trip for 2009. I, of course, have no idea what characters she will really be interested in, but we already have Little Einstein things and Princess things for her so hopefully one or both sets.

For those of you with 2 year olds, which do you think is more appropriate for that age - H&V breakfast or Storybook breakfast? DH and I went to Storybook a couple of years ago, and I loved it, so I am leaning towards that. However, I am not sure when most children outgrow Little Einstein characters.

I also have planned to take her to 1900 Park Fare our first evening to meet Cinderella. That was actually my favorite meal last year, so I want to try it again, too, since the steps are there now.

Thanks,

I would do a storybook princess meal. One reason is because sometimes 2 year olds can be afraid of face characters, at least for the first few days (mine was). Also the Disney princesses are timeless and I don't think the Little Einsteins are (personal opinion). My kids are tired of the Little Einstein shows and not that interested in them anymore. It seems like the show was on the Disney Channel so much that my kids got too much of them and they have moved on to bigger and better things (in thier opinion).

For a young 2 yo I would actually suggest other: either Park Fare breakfast or Crystal Palace. The Pooh and Tigger characters are at both and they are great character meals for that age, even if your child is not necessarily a big fans of those characters. When we went last year, my son was not yet 2 but he loved the Tigger character in person. At both places Tigger would bounce, pretend to steal kids' food, dance, etc. Very playful with little ones.

The princess meal is nice, but it seems better for older kids. In my experience the princesses mostly talked to the kids, signed autographs and moved on. My 4 yo loves the princesses but even she had more "fun" with Pooh and Tigger.

We haven't done H & V yet, plan to next trip, so I can't speak to that one.

I would suggest the storybook meal, even though we haven't been there. We just got back on Monday from our trip to the Motherland, and our 2 year old was TERRIFIED of every single charector, including Mickey. The only ones she wasn't afraid of were the princesses, and for some very strange reason, she wasn't afraid of Twiddle Dee and Twiddle Dum.

So if I were you, I'd stick to the face charectors.

I agree with the poster who said that the crystal palace one is great. While the storybook breakfast is nice- the princesses just sign and move on, there are no parades, games etc. The H&V one was a lot of fun even if you wanted to avoid the characters as is Crystal palace.

My boys are 4 & 3 and they enjoyed the Playhouse Disney Character Breakfast. I like it because it wasn't as crowded or noisy as some of the other Character meals.

We just returned and our DD14 mths had so much fun at the Cape May Cafe breakfast! Thats her in my avatar looking at Chip like...This is MY Mickey waffle!
It is quiet, relaxing, wasnt too crowded.well really, not at all!!!
Had plenty of character time and photo time! She posed with them all, and even sat on the floor with Goofy and leaned up against him!!!! She was the star of the breakfast I think!!! And MY DH said she would be too young for this! He sat there getting all emotional saying...I love this!! lol

You didn't mention Chef Mickey's but that can get you the classics. We took our DD when she was 2 and she loved it. Her question, though, was "Where is Donald?" Thankfully we ran into him later in the day. But for that first pic with Mickey, it's great!

Forgot to mention we're taking DD, now 4, to the Playhouse Disney meal. She doesn't know about it yet but she still loves Little Einsteins. My only concern is that it lists only two of them and not all four. I'm sure she'll want to know where the others are.

Do you think she will be scared of characters like the Little Einsteins? I have seen little kids who have been absolutely terrified of characters like them, but not scared of the princesses. Although I have also seen it the other way around. If she is not scared, I would go with P&D. It is a lot of fun there, with good interaction and dancing. I would also go with CP or CM because they are fun too. If she is really into princesses I would do one of those, but if not I would wait.

You can meet all 4 Einsteins outside of the meal usually. They have a meeting spot.

I would do Chef Mickeys. The food is really good and the character interaction is great. The characters come around alot! Great photo op.

We were just in WDW last week. We did 3 character meals. My DS(2.5) just loved each and every one! He LOVED all the characters!! He would run up and hug them all! We just loved Breakfast at the Crystal Palace on our 1st morning! I think that one was the best. We also really liked the Playhouse Disney Breakfast...great character interaction with the Little Einsteins which both my boys enjoy...even my DS (6) loves them still!
All week though my youngest kept asking for Mickey. Our Chef Mickey dinner was on our last night...he went bananas!!! I don't know if he even ate anything because he was so excited to see Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Pluto, and Donald!
Happy planning!:)

Our son almost 2 and neice 4 loved Crystal Palace (Pooh and Tigger) and Chef Mickeys. We are doing the Little Einstien one for the first time this year and they are now 3 and 5. My son was not afraid of the characters but of the dressed up people. He was just the opposite of most kids.

I'll second the Cape May Cafe recommendation. Crystal Palace and Chef Mickey's can get very loud and intimidating to a little two year old, who's often unsure about those great big characters. At Cape May, they see them in a calmer quieter environment. And there, also, it seems to me that the characters have more time with each family, which allows a two year old who may not be sure to have the time to feel comfortable with the characters.

We have been to the Crystal Palace (for lunch tho) 3 times already and have loved it every time. My kids love the Pooh characters and they are just so cute! I took my sons first when they were 4 & 2½, then added my daughter in when they were 7, 5 & 2½ (DD). This past trip they were 7, 6 & almost 3. We will definitely go again.

Another character meal we really like is the Garden Grill!

Thanks for asking this -- I am planning our Jan 08 trip now, and my youngest will be 2.5 then.

First off, it's really hard to plan that far out ('09) -- who knows WHAT Disney Channel will be airing then! And at that age, your DD will probably not have a clue about the princesses. Mine didn't.

My son really loves Little Einsteins and Mickey Mouse Clubhouse now, so I'm making sure we get meals with those characters. I went to the H&V breakfast last year (2 Little Einsteins and Jo Jo and Goliath) and it was FABULOUS!!!!! I can't wait for my son to see them. The meal at CP was great, and my DD loved the characters, but my son doesn't know Pooh at all, so I'm not setting that one as a priority for this trip.

For those that have done the meals at resorts (Cape May, etc), how is the transit time from the parks? I don't want to spend a bunch of time in transit, kwim?

Thanks!!

Without a doubt I would say Crystal Palace. The Winnie the Pooh characters are a gentle introduction to the Disney characters and both of mine loved lunch there. :)

We took our daughter when she was one and two. I'd say it depends which characters your child likes:

Pooh & Gang- Crystal Palace (MK)
Princesses- Cinderella's Royal table (B or L) Princesses visit table
This is a little fancy so be prepared for tablecloths.
Mickey- Chef Mickey's

We have been to most of the character meals, and these were always her faves.
