Sorry to keep bothering everyone but this is such a problem for me :confused3

Which would you pick.
Thrifty at $168.00

Dollar at $235.00

Now money wise...Thrifty is by far better but is off site and I have heard quite a few bad experiences......

Dollar is on site, I have booked with them before...quick easy and no problems, and I have only read 1 bad experience with them.

So which would you pick???? :confused3

Thank you

Dollar is on-site: My vacation time is worth big money to me.

I'm in the "same boat" as you. Thrifty is beating on site company's by almost Half Price!! To some people It may be no big deal, to me It's an issue. I've rented cars off site before and with the exception of a 5 minute ride to the lot, most are all the same. With National and their EI line, thats a different story at MCO. Until an on site company can get close to Thrifty's rate, I'll stick with them. As far as people with bad experiences, thats with everything. It all depends on who you ask. I don't like Carnival Cruise Lines, some people do. I like Southwest Airlines, some don't, etc etc. With Thrifty I'm reading that you can sign up for Blue Chip. I started to, but they ask for all your information (credit card, drivers liscence number, etc) and since I don't rent cars to often from thirfty, I stopped. I may go back and sign up, but I'm hoping that the line want be long. What I do, Is pack light and only use a carryon bag. This way while people from our flight get their luggage, I'm picking up the rental car. In the past this has worked great. I've also got the rental, while one went for the bags. This got us both out the door about the same time. We usually rent from Dollar, but they just aren't having a good rate. So far what I've read about Thrifty is they try and push you to buy extra. Like a time share. The other was they were marking dents on the car that were previous? I'll just have to remember to really look over the car.
Good Luck

Given the choices, I picked Thrifty. Now my choice would be National.

Lately National has had some of the best rates available, and you can stack codes for even better rates. National is onsite and you can sign up for Emerald Club membership for free thru the Mousesavers like. That will let you use EA and pick your car. It's easy and quick. I have National for this Wednesday for 8 days and it's 121.00 for an intermediate car (or whatever is in the EA)

Dollar, I don't go off site except to Hertz.

We have used Thrifty, offsite, several times. No problems at all. Very quick pick up. Short 5 minute drive to get car. No lines. We saved a lot of money. To me, the 20 minutes was worth it. I just don't get why so many people complain about offsite rentals, especially when you can save so much money. I know vacation time is priceless, but for us to afford the vacation in the first place, we watch our money and our budget carefully. Offsite rentals are really no big deal.
