I have narrowed my search down to two cameras and I would be grateful if anyone can help to make my mind up.

Bear in mind I need a camera with good night shot capability as in November we are going to Las Vegas and Disneyland!

Size is not so much of an issue!

It's between :
Canon Powershot A620
4X Optical Zoom, 2" LCD vari-angle screen, 7.1 MP and 20 shootong modes including night shots.

OR

Kodak Z650
10X Optical Zoom, 2" LCD screen, 6.36 MP and 10 shooting modes inc. night shots.

Thanks for you help in advance!

I prefer the Canon and my Husband likes the Kodak!

The question is, what do you like about the canon that edges out the Kodak and for your husband, vice versa. I don't have much experience with either camera, but it would be interesting to know what pushed each of you in that direction to make a suggestion either way.

That's a tough one! I have the Canon A620 and a Kodak DX7590 (which has much in common with the Z650), and I could not give either one up.

I like the Canon's swivel screen, picture quality, and "pursibility"(small size). The Canon's swivel screen was great when I was at an outdoor wedding and I could hold the camera up to take a pic.

As for the Kodak, it is much more intuitively laid out (quicker and easier to change settings), I love the color, and the zoom is just great. I have used the fireworks setting on both and the Kodak's were much better.

Both struggle with low light and I get very noisy pics with both at higher ISO's. Not sure there's any non-DSLR camera this is not true for.

I know, I'm no help at all. But you will have a lot to like with either choice. I guess if I had to keep only one, the edge for me would go to the Kodak for the zoom, color, and ease.

Maybe I'll do a little comparison.....

Okay, I took some comparison shots. To me, Canon wins on some, Kodak on others. All shots on auto, no flash, on this dreary day....

I like the Casio range... excellent value for money, top of the charts points wise and all round brilliance :)
