which cabin is better??

I am booked in 8050 but can change it to 8538..Have looked at the stateroom reports and nothing for either...of them,..
Wondering if it is necessary to be on the starboard side rather than the port where I am now...

those cabins will basically offer you the same thing

one is a little closer to the elevators, so it might be a little noisier

the 2 advantages of that starboard cabin that i can think of would be that from that cabin you can probably see the fireworks on pirate night from your verandah if it is too late to be at the party, and since the ship usually tries to back into Castaway Cay, your verandah would have an incredible view of the beach, as opposed to the dock

We sailed in 8536 on our first cruise and loved it. The noise was not bad at all and being close to the Elevators/Stairs it had easy access to deck 9, which is where we spent a lot of time.
