WE BOUGHT SSR ON 19 DEC 03. WE ARE CURRENTLY READING AND ABOUT TO SIGN OUR CONTRACT. IT SAYS SOMETHING ABOUT ESTIMATED DATE UNIT IS AVAILABLE FOR OCCUPANCY MAY 17 04. WHICH BUILDING DOES THIS MEAN I BOUGHT IN ON? (I KNOW THAT DOESN'T MEAN I STAY IN THAT BUILDING)

JUST INTERESTED TO KNOW WHICH STAGE I BOUGHT AT, ALSO AM I ALLOWED TO VISIT FROM MAY EVEN THOUGH MY USE YEAR IS AUGUST?

I MUST SAY I THOUGHT IT ODD THAT WE GOT AN AUGUST USE YEAR WHEN WE BOUGHT IN DECEMBER, OTHERS HAVE POSTED THAT THEY BOUGHT AT THAT TIME AND GOT FEB OR MARCH. NOT SURE IT MATTERS AS WE PLAN AHEAD AND WILL STILL GET SAME NO OF POINTS EACH YEAR.

I HAVE A LOT TO LEARN ABOUT THE COMPLEXITIES OF DVC YET!!!!

ALSO DOES ANYONE KNOW IF SSR WILL HAVE BALCONIES?

THANKS

mrsminniemouse:

First, YOU DON'T NEED TO SHOUT. WE CAN HEAR YOU!!! :)

To answer your questions:

If your occupancy date is May 17, then you own a piece of building #1.

With an August Use Year, you don't get your first points assigned until August 2004. You could borrow against the 2004 Use Year for a trip before 8/1, but just be careful you don't put yourself in a borrowing mode every year. If you were to make a reservation for July 2004, borrowing your 8/1/04 points, those points then get moved into a Use Year that ends on 7/31/04. Those points must be used by that date or you are in danger of losing them. So, in the example above, if you had to cancel that July '04 trip, you would likely lose the points.

It's interesting that you are a the second person in a couple of days to imply that you were "assigned" an August Use Year. While some Use Years may have been sold out when you purchased, MS should have thoroughly explained the Use Year concept and let you choose one that fit your vacation pattern.

Every SSR room will have a balcony. Studios, 1Bs and dedicated 2Bs will have one balcony. A "lockout" 2B (which is actually a 1B AND a Studio side-by-side) will have two separate balconies.

Thanks for you reply!!! Sorry for shouting, I had no idea!!! I often type with my baby on my lap so i sometimes use caps to avoid having to use both hands.

I am learning something new each day on this board!

Our DVC tour guide did explain how our use year works but did not give us a choice in which we had.

Thanks again
