Well...after a lot of tossing and turning...we finally paid our deposit for Port Orleans Riverside.

Now the next decision is to figure out which building to stay in -- Aligator Bayou or Magnolia Bend? Which are the better rooms and what do you feel would be the better location for us, a family of 4 with 2 DDs (ages 6 and 9)?

Being close to the bus depot would be nice as our 6 year old would probably be close to collapsing by the end of the day.

Thanks y'all for your help, esp. on my previous posts, as I struggled to make my resort decision!

Here is the link to a map of the property:

Take a look at it and that will give you some clues on what is closest to the main building, pools, and bus stops. We have stayed there several times and always request Alligator Bayou Building 14. Typically, we get that building or 15 or 18. Those are all great locations. We're heading back in February and I think we'll give a Mansion a try, though.

You'll have a great time.

Don't forget that AB has not been completely renovated yet and I've read that rooms in AB are much in need of refurbishment.

Oak Manor was a smoking building. If you call POR they are very nice and will tell you what to request etc.

Good luck!

We've stayed there quite a few times and LOVE it. We like buildings 14,16 and 18 in that order. They are very close to the food court and the main bus stop. Have a great time!!!

thanks!!! we're non-smokers so we'll be requesting a non-smoking building for sure.

we're going on March 25-Apr 4, so i would assume that all renos would have been completed by then (???). anyone have any idea when the POR full refurbishment will be completed???

Building 18 was a smoking building in 4/2003. We stayed there 2 nights because it was the only building that we could get adjoining rooms. We are also a non-smoking family and we did not notice any smell. We were then moved to adjoining rooms in building 14 for the rest of our stay.

We just got back from a week at POR. We had requested a room in the Mansion section because of the elevators. Originally they put us in an AB room, it was musty and since DD has asthma we requested a move. Our "water view" room in AB was of the pool too. We were moved to Parterre Place, we had a second floor river view room close to the quiet pool. It was wonderful!! The room was nice, the location was great, right next to the bridge to head over the the food court and all that.

I personally loved the mansion section, it just seemed nicer to me and the room didn't smell musty and moldy either!

we were in Building 24, it was renovated, near the West bus stop, but MILES from the food court
