Both, and any other planning means I can find. My DH bought me the Deluxe Passporter for Christmas and now every year we get the up-to-date current refill. The UG and Passporter are both useful guides, but the best advice usually comes from right here - DISers always seem to have the best advice and they can answer the most unusual question you might have! Trust me on this one! Several years ago I asked for a turn by turn directions to the back entrance of WDW to AK and had the answer in minutes! Not only were the directions right on, but they even gave unasked for advice on a different way back to our off-site resort from MK that night. Gotta love the DIS!
I got the Unofficial Guide 2006 from the library and I'm loving it! This will be our first trip and this book is very helpful. I also got the Passporter from the library and liked it too, so I bought the deluxe version from ebay. It should be here anyday now!! I liked how I could write in the Passporter, add new pages if I want and the maps are pretty good.
