We will be going to the Poly next July...I was wondering about the rooms. I think I am going to just book a garden view rooms (2). There are 8 of us DH, myself, DSD 13, DSS 11, DD8, DD6, DD3, DS2. We would love to be close to the pool...we will be spending A LOT of time there. Any other info about the Poly would be great :D

Hi,
We are planning on going to the Poly next July also.
I think I am leaning to staying in Tokelau Longhouse. Its right next to the east pool and not too far from anything else. I hear it is really nice. Although I have never stayed at the Poly before. This has always been my dream resort! I hope it continues to be after I spend 6 days there.
I am sooo excited.
We wont have 8 people, just myself, my DH and my twin DGDs. They will be 5 YsO.
With the Poly I dont think you can get a bad longhouse. Good luck and you might just see us there! Just look for two really cute 5 YOs, with a really tired looking grandmother!

The Tokelau Longhouse is where we stay while at the Poly. You could request a pool view ground floor if you want to go right to the pool from the sliding doors. This is the quiet pool. The Volcano pool is just a little walk past the quiet pool. We love the POLY............::yes:: ......It has a great location to everthing....:D

If you want to be close to the pools and the Great Ceremonial house, then Niue or Rarotonga would be nice. We have stayed in Rarotonga with a garden veiw room and it was very nice and very easy to get to the pools and Great Ceremonial house. If you want to be a little closer to the TTC inorder the catch the Epcot monorail, then Tokelau is a little more central to the TTC, pools, and Great Ceremonial House. It is a wonderful and beautiful resort. I hope you have a great time time with your family!

My favorite had always been Raratonga for the proximity to the GCH and the neat monorail view. Well on our last trip Raratonga was being rehabbed so I request Samoa 3rd floor after getting advice for the boards. We got it along with volcano pool view. It was the BEST room I have ever had at WDW! We had a wonderful view of the pool along with the lagoon even though it was garden view. It was the last room on the building so our balcony had an opening on two sides which allowed for seeing some fireworks. We had this room for 11 days and I hated to leave! We are going again in October and I hope to at least get Samoa 3rd floor. It was a nice quick walk to the GCH so that wasn't a problem at all. The best part was being able to sit on the balcony and take in the pool and lagoon. Just wonderful! :D

We stayed in Samoa. Great location to both pools and the GCH. Short walk to bus stop and TTC. Room was very nice.

I would also recommend the Tokelau longhouse at the Polynesian.

We are a family of seven and also had two rooms. I have twins that are 6 and triplets that are 4 so I also was very concerned with the location. It was a short walk to the pools, beach, gameroom, Peter Pan Club, Laundry Room, Ceremony House etc..

Good Luck

Planning for a whole year in advance...you're good. We went this July and in February. Both times we were in Tokelau and loved it. It's right beside the quiet pool and a quick hop skip and jump to the volcano pool. In fact, it's close to everything. Love it! You could also try Somoa - it's near the volcano pool for sure.

Have fun!

ladyelle ,
Hi! I am taking my twin DGDs. They are going to be five when we go next July. I have taken there older sisters befor, but I think this is going to be totaly different. I am so affraid Ill take them on something that will freak them out and they wont want to go on anything else.
What have your kids liked and didnt like at that age. I know "Its tough to be a bug" is out. They freak at a fly or spider.
How about Kali, or splash mt. Im just not sure. They might like the ride until they get wet. Then Im afraid all hell will break loose. I do plan on bringing extra clothes in case this happens.
I cant think of one thing that they can do at MGM.
and I myself think that the snowwhite ride is scary. I dont know who thought that ride up, but it lame for older kids and scary for the younger ones.
I am really looking forward to staying at the poly whith them. I really cant wait.
TIA for any advice.

That an be a challenging age-- we took dd at around her 4th birthday-- she's pretty gung-ho to try everything but she definitelty got flipped out by some things. When that happens, you just play it cool, do some character greetings for a while and find the playground that each park has.

Sometimes a kid might get scared by something and then two days later want to try it again. MY dd was itching to do TOT, she did it, and barely spoke for the next 90 minutes. Voyage of the Little Mermaid almost set her off after that. But two days later she begged to do TOT again and this time laughed the whole time. It is impossible to predict how kids will handle things, just roll with it!

We stayed in samoa ground floor I think it was 1602 or 1802. But we had the volcano pool right in our face. It was fantastic for our 3 ds and a quick trip to captain cooks for the mug runs. Also a hop, skip and jump into the gch. The perfect location for us and no, it was not too noisy with all the people in the pool. Just remember to keep your slider shut for privacy. I cant believe all the people that actually kept the curtains open. The quiet pool is right on the other side of samoa. Just perfect. As you can see from my tag, we love the poly. Remember to take advantage of all the free childrens activities that are offered.

Growing up we always stayed at Samoa... Um... I mean Tuvalu. Sorry they have changed the names of longhouses since my last stay. I enjoy being away from the main bustle of the pool areas and it definitely feels more secluded on "The West Side" of the Polynesian. It has a great lagoon view of the Magic Kingdom as well as the Electric Water Pageant. Also the sounds from the Luau are magical. The main drawback is the length of walk to TTC for the EPCOT monorail.

This time we will probably not stay in Tuvalu tho, unless we can get a free upgrade to lagoon view (doesn't hurt to ask). Has anyone stayed in Aotearoa or Rarotonga (Tahiti and Maori to me) on the Monorail side preferably 3rd floor. My daughter, 3, is enamored with the monorail, start them young and they will be hooked for life. She says, "there is our ride" everytime she sees it on TV/DVD. I have read that Roratonga can be noisy during the day due to the Speedway. (Why did they have to build that thing so near the Poly.)

We had connecting rooms in Raratonga this June. Mom traveled with us and I had requested "ground floor close to lobby" because she uses a scooter to get around. The building was PERFECT. It has just been completely rehabbed and everything was shiny-new. Our room faced the gardens around the quiet pool. We would walk out the end door and just a few steps away was the main lobby. A few steps more and we were at the Volcano pool. It was great! My kids thought they were hot stuff because they could go for drink refills all by themselves... The patio was wonderful and during afternoon storms the local ducks would hang out under the patio furniture to stay out of the rain.

The Polynesian was everything I had hoped for, and more. When we go again I will definitely ask for Raratonga because it was quiet yet close to everything. We enjoyed being so close to the lobby and all the amenities as it was very hot. Everything was "right there."

Have fun!
