I am so tired of buying sheets that end up being scratchy. I found sheets I love that are really soft at Penney's. They are cotton and bamboo, but started to pill after a couple of washings. Anyone have suggestions for really soft, durable sheets?

Any sheet that's 100% cotton with at least a 250 thread count. 300 to 400 would be better but pricey. Egyptian cotton would also make a difference; I heard their cotton threads are longer making for a softer weave. Good luck searching.

If you want them really soft, you need to go with long-staple Egyptian cotton, in a thread count of AT LEAST 400. Around 700 would be better.

IME, the best place to get sheets like these at an affordable price is Tuesday Morning. At retail they will cost you around $300/set.

Affordable.
Durable.
Soft.

To avoid pilling in sheets: don't wash them with your towels! Wash sheets with other sheets. We have everything from cheap kids' sheets from Target, to really nice expensive ones. None of them pill because we never wash them with towels! TRY IT!

I just bought some 275 ct sheets from Lands End. Happy so far.

100% Modal (pure beech sateen)

got them at bed bath beyond

Yeah, I never wash my sheets with my towels. And I am buying a high thread count, but can't seem to find any I like.

cotton, 3,4 or higher thread count. great feel, soft, etc. bed bath beyond. they can be as low as 100, but some are the 300 qouted above. egyptian is always good.

I want to add in: Doesn't wrinkle like crazy when you just look t them.

I bought thick Egyptian cotton sateen sheets on clearance at Amazon. Sure, they are soft, but the fabric looked incredibly cheap, (no sheen for sateen  ) and they wrinkle like the dickens. :sad2: Now I know why they were on clearance.

I like Lands End sheets. I can't remember which ones I bought most recently. I also like their flannels. I especially like them 'cause they FIT the bed! So many sheets don't!

Egyptian Cotton at least 450 thread count:)

I bought ours through LL Beane and they are great! :thumbsup2

I bought some Wamsutta sheets at Linen's & Things. They come in lots of colors, some patterns. Not expensive. We've had some of them for a few years already, and I wash them with towels. No pilling and VERY soft. The cover is white with a big circle cut out.

I have sheets with TC of 1500 or 1600. Buttery soft, and I've had them about 3 years now. I got them at JC Penney's sale in January at that time. GREAT sale! Expensive for a set, but then you got the second set for $1! Woooo hooooo!

Wow! Please post a thread when you see this sale again. :yay:

It might be hard to believe, but Martha Stewart 300TC sheets from KMart are fantastic. I just found a queen size set on clearance for about $32.00. Not a good selection of colors, but for the money, I didn't care. Regular retail for Queen size is about $70. They go on sale all the time.

I bought sheets at Target-they are labeled extra soft. They were VERY inexpensive and not a super high thread count so I was a bit unsure....they are WONDERFUL. I went an bought an extra set for home and a few sets as gifts. Everybody agrees they are amazing. Go check them out!

DH and I love JCPenney's Studio Wrinkle-Free sheets. The thread count is 350. They are silky-soft and smooth and haven't pilled.
