Which of the two Atlantis excursion is both fun and worth the money? I really would like to have access to water park, lazy river but I know this is not included. Any thoughts?

My personal opinion is neither.

My question is what do you want to get out of it?

The excusions that include touring the resort are poor. They shuttle you over in a scary looking water taxi, which always looks overfilled, and drops you off a good block or two away from the place. Then they run you thru the tour of the resort at a rather brisk pace. Sure you are free to wander the resort afterwards but you'll be beat enough by then you won't want to.

It's much much easier to do on your own. If you want the water amenities, you will have to get a room at one of the two places, either Atlantis or Comfor Suites which is next door.

If you want to just tour the place, I have a prewritten guide(print this out!) for you to follow that'll make it a very fun time there. And it is a wonderful place to visit in Nassau, no doubt.
I'll paste it now, if you have any questions, feel free to ask!

  • Leave the ship and go to the end of the dock.
  • Take one of the numerous taxis for (right now, price partially depends on a bridge toll) $5 per person to Atlantis, much more pleasant than the overcrowded water taxi. Or, you can find limos for hire there as well for comparable prices.
  • Walk to the center of the casino upon arrival, to the kiosk with the blue globe(Temple of the Moon).
  • Buy a wristband for $25 each Adults, $19 Kids 4-12, under 4 free, for access to all the resort except the water recreation(you can still walk out to the beach, just not on it).
  • Walk the Dig at your own pace. It's long, at least a mile or more, but it is exceptional. And you basically walk about 2/3 of the property in doing so, they give you a map. You can go where you wish, at your own pace.
  • Whenever you're done, just go back to where you were dropped off for another taxi ride back to the ship.
We did this and still got back in time for a late lunch shipboard. But you can indulge yourself of the restaurants at Atlantis, but they are a bit pricey.

Marilyn,
Just do the Dig on your own. It's worth it! The only trouble you may have is the swarm of tour groups that go through sometimes. We got caught in between two of them at first, but the Dig is so huge, you can easily go out on your own and avoid others. I especially loved the crabbies at the end.....there was a huge stack of them protecting their pile of lettuce in their cage! :)
