Which area to request for SSR?

I am also posting this to the Disabilities board...just hoping to get as much info from those who know!

This is our 1st stay at SSR, and I am unsure what location to request. DD/ age 3 has spina bifida, and walks with leg braces. We will have a stroller for parks, but this independence is new for her, so she is not a fan of her stroller, most days.

I would like to request an area at SSR that will allow her to walk to food, parking, pool areas...etc. I know this place is huge and spread out, so I need a location that puts those things within reach. Is that possible?


Also, if I am using a large stroller for her, should we plan on taking our car to parks?

If you have a car, I would probably use it. Busses can bea challenge.

I like the Grandstand area. Its very close to the main area but if you do use the busses, its the first stop on the route, both going and coming back from the parks. So you will board a bus that isn't packed full and be able to get a seat more easily.

The great thing about SSR is that you park your car very near your room. No long walk from a parking lot and also each area has a bus stop and pool nearby.

We have travelled with disabled family members twice to WDW and both times we stayed at SSR. It was ideal for our situation because even with the spread out nature of the resort, having a bus or parking very neaby was invaluable.

Grandstand will put you within about a 2-7 minute walk (depending on your pace and what building) to the main area. It has a fun pool with spray cannons right there and then the main " Highrock Springs Pool" (which is zero entry) is very close by.
