Hi all!

I just bought a Cricut yesterday and I am trying to decide on which 2 cartridges to buy......can only afford 2 right now, so I am having a hard time deciding on which alphabet to purchase. I make alot of cards, so I am going to buy the Beyond Birthdays.....but I need to decide between Base Camp, Alphalicious, Zooballoo, Jasmine and Teardrop. Just wondering what everyone uses the most? I scrap my kids....so not sure which one would be the most useful. Thanks for you input!!

Well I only have two carts right now, Base Camp and ZooBaloo, and I really like both of them. Both of them have upper and lower case letters. ZooBaloo has a lot on the cart, while base camp is more basic.

Base camp is my favorite all purpose font. I also love my Mickey & Friends and Doodle Charms.

I have tear drop and use it a lot but I like the classicness of Base Camp

Base Camp was the first one I bought. Faerie is right about its classicness. It has a lot of good uses. I like it for masculine cards and layouts (I used it for military layouts.) as well as other things. However, I do use ZooBalloo more. It's got the upper and lower letters plus all of those animals and landscapes as well as some words. I think that one is great with kids. The font is whimsical and the animals can be used in a wide variety of ways. Have you looked at the cartridge handbooks on the Cricut website? Those really give you an idea of what each cart can do.

Oh, another good point about Zoo is the list of features like "cards" and "boxes". It'll also cut an envelope, but I haven't tried that yet.

Thanks for your replies!!

I have gone to the Cricut website to look at the message boards as well as the handbooks....there are so many I would like to have!! Thanks again!!!

The two favorite fonts I have right now are Alphalicious and All Mixed Up. Alphalicious is pretty all purpose and AMU is kind of a "fun" one.

I'm not sure how much you expect to spend on each cart, but I'd like to suggest to you that you hit up your local Wal-Mart. Every one I've been to has had carts on clearance for 45 dollars-and each one has had different ones to choose from!!

If you're expecting to pay 90 per cart, you can get FOUR at Wal-Mart if you find 'em!

So far I've seen Beyond Birthdays, Animal Kingdom, Tear Drop, Celebrations, and Christmas Cheer on clearance at the various Wal-Marts I've been to.

Having said that, my favorites so far have been Beyond Birthdays (for card making) and Mickey and Friends. :)

Or, if you live on the east coast, try out A.C. Moore. They have a bundle right now that has 4 carts for $160 (on Tuesday) or 199 otherwise. I'm working on getting that one right now through a friend...Being in Wisconsin certainly has its disadvantages :(

Thanks for the info! My Wal-Mart only has the Celebrations cart marked down to $45...all others are about $60. I'll keep checking though!! My closest AC Moore is about an 1 1/2 hrs away...DH was up that way for work and that is where he picked up the Cricut machine. I think I am going to buy my carts on Ebay...as there are a couple of sellers that are listing a BIN of $40 plus $5 ship for any cart....with positive feedback....so I think that might be the best bet right now.
Thanks again!

I really love ZooBalloo because it has such a cute font and tons of animals and cool features. There's just a lot on there - it's almost like 2 carts in 1. Another favorite is Paper Pups. You might be really surprised at how versatile this cart is. Celebrations is great too, and very useful. So is Doodlecharms. Oooh, there's a bunch of cool ones!

I just got the cricut two months ago and thanks to sales (like the 4 pack!) and ebay, I have a few fonts - Opposites Attract, Making the Grade, Mickey Font, Zooballoo, Jasmine and Printing 101. I love the fonts with Zooballoo and Making the Grade - and I love that they are not just fonts, but soooooo much more!! To be honest, though, I haven't tried Jasmine or Printing 101 yet. All Mixed up will probably be next font - I love the looks of that one!

My favorites are Opposites Attract and Zoo Balloo. I love that OA has the script and the block letters, it makes it very versatile. And, I love the card feature of ZB!

Thanks again for the replies!! I bought Beyond Birthdays, but still have not purchased an alphabet cart yet.....I keep getting outbid on Ebay...wish I could get them all!! Guess I know what I will be asking for Christmas!!

I really thought that I would prefer the shape cartridges, but I find I am reaching for the font carts often.

Aww, heck, there isn't a cricut cartridge I've met that I didn't like. :woohoo:

Well I just bought 4 carts!! Zooballoo, Jasmine, Alphalicious and Beyond Birthdays..... all for $168. Can't wait to get them!! Now I really want the Disney carts too, but I think I will wait for the holidays and ask DH to get them for me. Thanks again for all the replies!!
