We were there the few days it first opened and were on it a couple hours before it broke down. Still debating going on it again!
I can imagine that would make you think twice!!
We were in WDW March 12 & 13. One March 12th we used buses to/from POP to MK and AK (and a quick ride to/from the AKL for food/drink). Given the 'state of things' in regard to the Coronavirus, the buses were EXTREMELY stressful. Standing was one thing, but being seated and having people stand 'above' was also extremely stressful. About half the buses we rode were PACKED. (One would hope that part of the re-open plan would be to increase the bus frequecny and avoid having people stand at all -- I was actually a little surprised that practice wasn't already in place given the timing of our visit.)
On March 13th, we used only the Skyliner to go to/from POP, the Studios, and EPCOT. Immensely more comfortable, faster, and there were only 2 segments where we had people in with us. We made the decision before the trip to NOT rope drop anything so we could avoid the mass shoulder-to-shoulder crowds for long periods. It was such a luxury to head to the Studios around 9am, walk right onto the Skyliner with no line and no one else. Same thing for when we headed to EPCOT later that day. We even timed our departure from EPCOT at 9pm so we could see some of the fireworks from the skyliner but also avoid the mass departure.
From someone who was in WDW at that time, I would never even consider staying at a non-Skyliner resort for the foreseeable future. #1 reason is how convenient it is, but very close behind is removing the entire chance of being crammed on a bus for half the parks.
