Which All Star resort? Or something different?

My wife an I are booked for a DVC tour this September (about 7 weeks from now), so we were going to come down just for a weekend (2 nights).
I was thinking about staying at one of the All Star resorts, simply because they are cheap and this was not a planned trip. But then my mind plays tricks on me, making me think I should upgrade to a moderate or a more romantic setting, seeing as the kids will be staying home with grandma and this is the 1st trip my wife and I have taken alone in 9 years!
I know there's not a lot of availability, so I'm not going to be picky. What is everyone's opinion on this? And which All Star resort is better for a couple?
Here's some quick info:
Relying on Disney transportation. No luggage. Just carry-on's. No park tickets.
Arrive on a Friday late morning. Lunch as Disney Springs and do a MNSSHP.
Sleep late on Saturday, QS breakfast, late morning DVC presentation, resort hop and check out other resorts we have not been to, and a nice dinner for 2 at the end of the day.
Leave early on Sunday morning to come home.

If you can get into All Star Movies, many of the rooms there have been renovated. It's a definite upgrade that includes queen size beds instead of doubles. Obviously there's still a chance of getting an old room, but, the odds are in your favor.

I totally understand where you're coming from. My husband and I are taking our first weekend trip away from the kids ever (10 years!) this weekend. For us, we decided that we'd rather stay at a nicer resort than a value. If you can afford it, I would suggest upgrading, especially since you plan on spending time at your resort and not doing any parks. We decided to take it to the extreme and are checking off a bucket list deluxe resort for a weekend, but we were planning on Carribean Beach originally because we wanted a quieter, more adult setting. That's my two cents!

If available, try POFQ. It is the smallest and quiet resort in Disney. It has a "charm" to it. You can get boat transportation to Disney Springs to extend dining and entertainment options. Not sure when you are going, but they do offer horse drawn carriage rides.

Our dates are September 13th through the 15th. There's not too much available for moderates right now. Plenty of RR's at POR but that doesn't really interest me.

If you don't do a moderate, at least PoP has recently renovated rooms, I believe some of the All Stars do but there is no guarantee you will get one.

All of POP and some Movies have renovated rooms, but will be busier with children. If you are looking for more of a quiet time at All Stars we stayed at Music in Dec in the Broadway section. Super quiet and relaxing and the food court was never really busy.

Does the renovated Movies rooms have the Murphy beds? We stayed at Pop and I wasn't real keen on the beds.

Thanks for everyone's input. I had booked All Star Music because that was the only value resort available. I happen to look again and was able to grab a Port Orleans French Quarter King bed room!
Was about to say if you’re looking to buy DVC then you’ll have plenty of deluxe stays in your future so no shame in staying by value for a quick trip!
