Which AKL restaurant WITHOUT the kids?

Hello,
We are going to be staying at the AKL Club Level, and we would like to go out one night for dinner without the kids. We will use the resort kids club for a couple of hours. I think that we will probably utilize the Club Lounge for appetizers & dessert, so we mainly will have entrees at a restaurant. All 3 of the restaurants sound great to me (we are very adventurous eaters & prefer "ethnic" over American type food). Any suggestions?

Thanks!

I'd highly recommend Jiko. It is an upscale, signature restaurant at AKL. The food is excellent and the atmosphere is very relaxing. You could easily spend a few hours here alone.

Your choices are Boma, Jiko, and Sanaa.

Boma is buffet-style and is very good. For just the 2 of you, you may prefer something a little quieter at Jiko or Sanaa.

You can find the menus at: http://allears.net/menu/menus.htm#akl

Sanaa is over at Kidani village and is very good, and much smaller. While it is "next door" at the neighboring Kidani resort, you would want to take the bus or drive. We've never dined at Jiko, but I'm sure others will help you out there.

For romance, my husband and I like Jiko. We went there right after he proposed and then again on our honeymoon. So, having said that it might be more romantic to us than other guests.

We also like Sanaa but usually we do less talking and more animal watching when we're there.

If the decision comes down to food (and wine) - my vote is with Jiko.

DH and I enjoy Jiko's. They used to have a lamb shank that was nothing short of marvelous which, alas, was removed from the menu a few years ago. But the service is always good and the menu has some intereting flavors. DH would just kill for ANY creme brulee and he likes Jiko's pistachio version a lot---not as much as the brulee from Chefs de France, but it's good according to my creme brulee expert:cutie:

Jiko HANDS DOWN!!! We've eaten there just the two of us last trip and it was a huge highlight of our trip and we are doing it again this year. The kids loved the kids club so much that after Jiko we went to pick them up and they begged to stay longer so we enjoyed the lounge and had a few drinks, GREAT night out!:thumbsup2

Thanks so much everyone!!!! I booked Jiko and the kids club! I am so excited!!!!!:lovestruc:thumbsup2

We are DVC members with AKL as a home resort. Don't hate me but we must be a couple of the very few that don't care for Boma's, but LOVE Jiko's!
