Hi! I'm a WDW Vet ready to check out DL. I am just starting to do some research and planning-but I haven't seen which airport is best to fly into? I believe it was the Disney Destination Site that said to fly into Ontario-is that the best choice if we plan to stay at one of the hotels within walking distance to the Land?

Thanks for your help...I think I may be around a lot in the next few months!

I'd say it depends on what airline you are taking. DH and I like Long Beach because it is small and security is so fast when flying home. It is also one of the cheapest for us and it only takes 25-30 minutes to get to DL. Jet Blue flies there direct from New York. John Wayne is probably the closest, but also more expensive for us. LAX has the most flight options, but it has been more expensive lately and you sometimes get caught in the LA traffic.

SNA/ Orange county/ John Wayne or Long Beach would be my first two choices. Both are very close (10-15 miles), and small enough to make it easy to get in and out quickly.

We just returned home yesterday (Tuesday) out of LAX, it was a MAD HOUSE,
I guess the holiday travels have kicked in. We stayed at the DLH, the traffic flow was fine getting to the airport, but once inside the :badpc:  began. We had plenty of time so we were not stressed. popcorn::
Would I do it again? YES :moped: , because it was a good savings for us flying AA and I try to book buffers in my travel plans for traffic and over crowded airports

We usually fly into SNA John Wayne from Newark NJ. Once we flew into LAX because we wanted to visit with my nephew in LA before we flew home. We like SNA better.

We are flying into orange county in January. Since our flight is only a hour the cost wasn't really any different within the different airports so we picked the closest one to the parks. You also might want to think about just because it's cheaper to fly there it might be more expensive to get transportation from there assuming you aren't renting a car becuase of the distance from the parks to that particular airport.

SNA is closest, but if you fly JetBlue then go into Long Beach. From NY you may have most choices into LAX. If that is the case, don't fret it unless it is around a major holiday. I used to fly in and out of it and it has an unecessary bad rap. It is just a little less convenient to get to Anaheim and depending on time of day may take a while.

John Wayne is where we fly into. It's NEVER busy (when we go) and that's just the way I like it!!!

i suggest LAX, and then drive to the hotel your gonna stay at. We usually go to the Fairfield Inn because its a short distance walk to the enterance and there are a ton of close-by restaurants.......there are also other other hotels very near-by.

If it's choosing between LAX or Ontario, I'd choose Ontario. They even had a special area when I was there in Sept for Disney information. Don't know if its always there or not.

I wouldn't bother with Ontario unless it is a nonstop flight. It's still a drive to DL, perhaps a little quieter than the drive from LAX, but not worth the time you'd lose if you had to stopover on the way from NY.

Once again, LAX has an unecessary bad rap. But, then again, I grew up near JFK and LaGuardia and am used to dealing with much tougher city airports (more confusing, busier, etc.)

If you can fly on Jet Blue, then definately fly into Long Beach! It is an awesome airport and the cab ride is only about 25 minutes to the resort. We love the LB airport!
