Just made my hotel ressies and am trying to decide on an airport. Can you locals recommend Orange County over Long Beach or LAX? Fares are about the same right now. We are looking for ease of traffic, etc. Thanks!

I'm not a local, but I've flown into SNA, LAX and BUR all within the last 7 months for business. Given the option, I'd choose SNA (Orange County/John Wayne) every time--especially if you are headed to DL (it's the closest). Maybe I arrived at an off time, but I walked right up to the rental car counter, got my rental car promptly, bags came out quickly and I was on my way in no time. Additionally, getting back to the SNA airport was easy when it came time to leave. Can't say anything similar about my experiences at LAX or BUR!

If it's even dollars between airports, SNA gets my vote.

Just my two cents. . .

My first choice is Orange County (SNA). It's only about a 15-20 minute drive to the parks and it's small enough so you don't get lost inside it.
Second would be Long Beach (LGB). It's only about a 30 minute drive, but you sometimes hit traffic that slows you down more. One great thing is the airport is so small (less than 10 gates) that you get in and out really fast.

For me, price wins out most of the time, which means I usually fly into LGB on Jet Blue.

I've done LAX and it is manageable, but really more hastle. The drive was about 45 minutes, but getting in and out of the airport was difficult. There were long waits for luggage, cars and security.

Never used Burbank. It just always seems too far of a drive.

Long Beach all the way! We always fly into LB and have never hit traffic! It's great!

My vote would be Long Beach. Its probably about the same distance at John Wayne, but the traffice around there can be hideous. Long Beach there is no need for freeways and its pretty small and easy to manuever. If I had a choice that would be it.

I've flown into LAX and SNA - SNA is my pick, hands down. I'll have to try Long Beach next trip. The traffic, getting the car, getting through security checks was all a lot more complicated at LAX.

SNA also gets my vote. Before we moved to CA, we tried both LAX and SNA. We always had big problems with LAX. Lots of traffic, security problems, rental car places being far away. We decided years ago to only fly in and out of SNA. I am now in the early planning stages of a trip to WDW in Sept 2006, and I can't get good airfareor direct flights from SNA, and am really dreading the possibility of going to LAX.

I've only flown into LAX, and would recommend any airport that's closer to Anaheim than this one is! Can you believe - the entire city of Anaheim got lost when I was trying to drive there from LAX? I wasn't lost - I knew exactly where I was (in the car, on the highway...) but that dratted city just never appeared until two hours after I left the rental car place... ;)

Nah, we weren't lost....we just like to be stealth.

I would definately pick SNA. I've flown out of all 3 of the airports mentioned and I loveee Orange County. I much prefer it to Long Beach and much much much prefer it to LAX.

I live in Anaheim too, well Anaheim Hills but close enough. I am flying to WDW on Monday and I am having to fly out of LAX. I picked the trouble of LAX over the trouble of a layover. I'm not looking forward to the LAX part though

I personally go to John Wayne. It is close to Disneyland. LAX can be a long drive to your hotel but if you want to tour LA then go to LAX. I have only been to John Wayne and LAX. When I went for a choir trip last year LAX was horrible, it took us almost 3 hours to get to Disneyland, but that was because we toured Hollywood and well I will probably not do that again because it was scary. So I would suggest John Wayne if you want a short trip.

We always use SNA as it is close and convienent. It is no where as busy as LAX which I've flown in/out of with my family.

Another vote for SNA - Orange County. It is a nice airport and only 15 minutes away from DL. Ou cab fare for four people was a $35 flat rate which was easier and faster than the shuttles.

I've flown into SNA twice before and found it a breeze to get in and out of. In March we're flying into LAX for the first time. Don't really want to, but can't find any good fares from Houston to SNA this time. Flying into LAX will save us around $240.

I am expecting to arrive at 11:15pm (on a Friday) to LAX do you still think the trip to DL will be horrible? Lst time I flew into SNA using a free Southwest flight but this time I'm using a free AirTran (Wendy's cup) flight. I agree, SNA rocks but on Airtran my choices were limited.
