Which airport and how do I get to Disneyland area from that airport?

Pretty sure there are nonstops from Love Field to SNA (John Wayne) or LBG (Long Beach) if you want to investigate that. There's certainly more flights into LAX. Just depends on how much cheaper it is to fly in and how much time/expense you want to spend getting from LAX. You might check on if the difference is the same in terms of ticket savings vs rideshare. It's only 20 minutes from SNA to Disneyland. If it has a good time and the cost isn't bad, I'd go for that.

Where do you live? DFW and Love Field are only 20 minutes apart. DFW will have loads more options and I haven't found Southwest to be that competitive lately. DFW is the American Airlines hub so it has a lot of flights leaving to LAX. I live in Dallas but actually prefer DFW as it can be almost the exact same drive from my house on the east side of Dallas proper. You can also pay in advance for long term parking which can save a decent amount. We do that on most of our vacations now.

There’s one flight a fay between each of SNA and LGB to DAL. The flight times are less than ideal - late arrivals (into LGB and SMA) and early morning departures.

The ride share fare difference between LAX and SNA isn’t as much as one would expect. SNA consistently has the highest cost per mile of any airport in the country when utilizing ride shares. For example, from my house, SNA (15-20 minute drive) shows as $44 right now and LAX (50 minutes) $66. If I change SNA to the adjacent McDonald’s or El Torito, the fare drops to $16.

All things being equal, I would pick SNA anytime over LAX but alas, they’re rarely equal. Reality is, LAX is most often the better choice. The time difference is heavily exaggerated on here - if the drive from SNA to DLR is 20 minutes, it’s 40-45 from LAX.

I live in DFW and fly extensively for work and we also regularly fly to SoCal. If going to DL, I recommend SNA. As someone else noted, Southwest's nonstop options to SNA and Long Beach are limited from Love.

American usually flys 5 nonstops per day from DFW to SNA. American does not fly to Long Beach. I have flown American to Ontario, Burbank, LAX, and even San Diego. Ontario is worth looking into if SNA is too expensive, but transport from there is more difficult and expensive.

DFW is a massive, busy, and sprawling airport (the 3rd busiest in the world), but it is amazingly easy to navigate for locals. You drive up near your gate, drops bags, head to the dispersed security, and get to your gate very easily all through walking (typically no long walks or trains). It's not at all comparable to the complex experience at LAX. The experience at DFW is very different for connecting passengers, which makes up about half the airports traffic (long walks, trains).

I'm at DFW multiple times per month and would not be concerned with added complexity there vs. Love. The reality is, American has far more flight options on the same routes vs. Southwest from Dallas, and American flies to more airports in SoCal.

I think that is the key. We are all accustomed to what we use on a regular basis. I am not local to DFW and found it difficult to navigate, especially with all of the looping around and merging. If I visited the airport frequently, I'm sure I would know what to do but we found ourselves turned around and had to re-loop to get in the correct lane to merge and exit for our terminal. Also, the rental cars at DFW are farther off site than any other airport we have visited.

If OP can navigate DFW, I'm sure they can navigate LAX.

Understood! I used to connect through DFW before living here and I think it is far more challenging in that regard.

Agreed, LAX is totally manageable if able to handle DFW. Flights to LAX can sometimes be considerably less than SNA from DFW, but not always. United, Delta, Spirit, and others all do DFW to LAX. SNA is almost exclusively American and Southwest.
