Which Airline do I choose, this is situation...

We are leaving from MCO on 8/31 to go home to Jersey. We were planning to do our usual JetBlue flight (we love JBLU!) into EWR and the cost is $391.00 (and that's not the Extra Space).
I was doing some price checking tonight and see there is a Delta out of MCO non-stop into LGA, which is basically the same distance and maybe a few more minutes (depending on NY traffic) to our home in NJ.
Here is the fine print, the Delta flight is $397.00 for First class and costs about $6.00 more person ( that is correct, six dollars). I know there is a Mets game that is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. and will be over by 4 p.m. and our flight gets in around 6 P.M.and car service may be $10.00-$20.00.

It's just that we are used to EWR and we know it's one straight run once we are out of the airport, but to be able to do first class for our 21/2 hour flight would be nice treat for all of us!

Any thoughts appreciated!

Don't forget to add in luggage fees to your equation - Delta charges $25 per bag I think.

Those prices might come down when JetBlue has a sale.

I know the baggage is free with First class ticket.

We fly Jetblue all of the time. But with only a $6 difference for first class with
Delta, I would choose Delta.

Take the Delta flight. Just don't expect too much from domestic first class; it's not that different from coach, especially on such a short flight.

We don't fly often, but I already see what you mean. Doing some diligence, I discovered that if we go First class and the flight is in between the times of 1-4 p.m., we DO NOT get a meal, but snack...but yet the ticket fare is the same as the others that get the meal.

But if it covers baggage, you're either even or up a little bit, and you've gotten a comfier seat and maybe a beer. I'd go with the Delta flight. (but then again our two experiences with JB were not good and I choose to not give them my money so it's easy for me to say!)

A "snack" is still a meal, just without courses like desert and salad.

Contrary to popular belief, domestic first class is still worthwhile depending on the airline. American Airlines and Virgin America do it very well; Delta does a decent job; United and US Airways suck at it.

Be careful with "cheap" First Class fares. Is it a non-refundable fare? Is the fare basis something like V, P, or Z rather than F? If so, just be aware that this is a coach fare with an upgrade feature. Most likely everything will work out OK, but in the event of irregular operations ( weather, mechanical problems, etc.) you MAY be rebooked in coach with no credit or partial refund due. Somewhere in the fine print might be a statement indicating they could do this.

This happened to an associate of mine on United. His flight was cancelled, and the next available first class seat for his fare basis was three days later. Or they could route him a ridiculous roundabout way via Houston and Chicago. Neither choice was acceptable, no he had to sit in a middle seat surrounded by people who paid much less.

Since your Delta first class flight is only $6 more than JetBlue coach, I'd go with Delta and not worry about the above scenario. It was more of a FYI for the general audience rather than trying to scare you.

I just can't agree with this if you are the one paying for the ticket.

I'd go with the first class as everything is pretty equal $$ wise. Treat yourself!

Go for it! I know that JetBlue gives you the first bag for free (LOVE JET BLUE) but for only $6, first class is WAY worth it. I upgrade whenever it is possible and not cost prohibitive.
