WHICH AIRBOAT COMPANY

We have used midwayairboatrides.com at Christmas, FL on 2 different years and were very pleased with the experience- especially all the animals we saw. The boats are tiered so no heads in your way. They provide ear protection.

We have had great tours with both Wild Willy's and Wild Florida. We can wholeheartedly recommend both, but the overall nod goes to Wild Florida as their airboat rides also include complimentary admission to their exotic animal park. Wild Florida is also a somewhat shorter and easier drive.

Another vote for Midway Airboats at Christmas ( And visit the Replica Fort Christmas ) ON Hwy 50

Heading towards Titisville about 1 hour + from Disney

How long did you spend in the exotic animal park? Do you think the Wild Florida airboat ride plus the animal park would be a full day outing? Half a day?

I'm assuming they provided ear protection, but how loud was it even with protection? Also, how did the headphones affect your ability to communicate? I think my sons would LOVE to do an airboat ride, but my daughter is very sensitive to loud noises.

Not a full day, but easily a half day and perhaps a bit more. We enjoyed a leisurely start to that morning with the chance to sleep in before having a nice breakfast. Then we headed to Wild Florida.

You can book 1/2 hour or 1 hour airboat tours. We went with the one hour and were glad we did. Time flies by! We saw lots of gators and some great scenery.

Ear protection is provided, and while wearing it we didn't find the noise bothersome (though communication becomes a bit more challenging, as you're yelling at your travel companions so they can hear you LOL). We were at the very front of the boat, though, so as far away from the motor as you can get.

The animal park has some feeding and photo opportunities (for an extra fee) so if you want to do those events, you would definitely eat up more time. It looks like they also offer some shows now as well.

At Midway Airboats & other Co. the headphones have Microphones attached & you can talk to

fellow travelers & also hear them ask questions & hear the replies from the captain & others

Most tours last at least 1 hour

Spirit of the Swamp was amazing, the captain was knowledgeable of the area and the wild life. We where a family of 4 and it was only us and the captain. They provided headphones with microphones. We even stopped at an island and got off the boat to explore. You can choose different length tours. We chose the 2 hour tour.

Anyone know of any discounts (not specialty like FL resident, military, etc.) for the longer, more scenic airboat rides?

I'm finding Boggy Creek with the Go Orlando card, but that's only 30 minutes. It looks like the Go Orlando Card will let me do 30-minutes with Boggy Creek and a day at Gatorland for less than just the airboat ride with a different company. Kind of torn on a longer airboat ride vs getting to do Gatorland, too.
