Which "age defying" beauty products do you recommend?

Roc and love a peel called vi-peel, look it up it removes brown spots and makes your skin look silky smooth-not invasive at all. You would have to go to the drerm for the vitamin peel.

Another thumbs up to the Retin-A. My cosmetic surgeon said that every women should be using this daily.

My insurance covers it and it works great when combined with the Obaji products I am using.

I use all Dr. Hauschka products, which are amazing. I also use sunscreen and Jane Iredale mineral make up which has a natural SPF as well.

She said alpha-hydroxys in the AM and retinol at night. I buy Neutrogena products (you have too look through all the ingredients). I have been using these products faithfully for at least 3 years (not in the summer--they make you sun sensitive; I use products w/ anitoxidants and vitamin C in summer). I am 43 & have gotten compliments from complete strangers that I don't look old enough to have a 14YO; a bouncer at a bar said I looked fantastic for my age; a gal who was dating a high school classmate of mine commented "you graduated w/ John? How is it you don't have any wrinkles??"
Good genes help; I was NOT a sun worshipper when younger but we are at the pool all summer now (sunscreen, sunscreen, sunscreen--every morning all year round, and every 2 hours when at the pool). I try to eat healthy, work out and HYDRATE. I also apply moisturizer in the middle of the day.
DO NOT be wooed by expensive products in stores; most of those are expensive to pay for marketing.
Visit with your dermo; I did visit with mine at home, and he said the AHAs in AM/retinol in PM was excellent advice, and to visit with him again when I felt I needed something stronger (he mentioned retinA is about $75/month--think I'd rather get botox...)

I asked my dermatologist and she said the only thing that really works is retin-A... she writes me a scrip and then I get it from Canada, brand name stuff for about $35 for a couple months worth.

for day use, I used Loreal products.

I've also read that the only product that reduces the signs of aging is Retin-A -- it restores collagen to the skin.

My dermatologist prescribed it for acne about 10 years ago -- and now I'm reaping the benefits! My insurance won't cover it and I pay $85 a tube. Apparently, I'm too old to have acne :scared1:

Scootch, please share your source with me!!

Day: Olay Regenerist Regenerating Serum (great!), Regenerist Eye Listing Serum (thinking of switcing to somethign else on this), and Olay Age Defying Daily Renewal Cream (great! - don't like the Regenerist daytime Cream or Lotion)

Night: Olay Regenerist Daily Serum, Olay Regnerist Night Recovery Cream (super great!)

I alos use the Olay Microdermabrasion & Peel Kit a couple times a month. Directiosn say use it twice a week, but I get by w/ the twice a month fine, and it makes it last waaay longer.

Tried the Regenerist Facial Cleanser and hated it. Left my face feeling greasy or like it had some kind of film on it.

Facial sunscreen

I love the Olay line and now they have the Pro X line that is great.

Sunscreen is a must. I'm dark skinned (African american) and even with the extra melanin I slap it on religiously. ******s are a big culprit to wrinkles.

Thanks for your responses everyone.

I'm in my early 30's and have never been to the dermatologist. I think I am going to bite the bullet and make an appointment. I have olive skin and have spent my life in the sun. I've only become diligent about sunscreen since I had my daughter 5 years ago. So, before I start buying products, I think I will go and have them check out my skin. I'm sure they are going to yell at me for not using sunscreen for years........

I love Bliss Peeling Groovy serum. It is amazing stuff. It shrinks pores and leaves your skin baby smooth after the first time you use it. I got a sample and was shoked that it was so easy. You just apply a couple of drops before your moisturizer w/SPF and that's it. It stings for a minute but well worth it.

Great,,,and talk about Sunscreen. All sunscreen is NOT created equal[/COLOR]. Some are not stable, and most do NOT have adequate UVA protection. UVA rays are the rays that cause aging...they are the same on cloudy days as sunny days, penetrate through your windows at home, and are year round. I order mine from Europe b/c the better UVA American ss like Neutrogena Dry Touch 55 burn my skin. Just do your research and talk to your derm...you are never too old to start!

I have used many products. I have spent lots of money 100.00/jar on these products. I went to a dermatologist about a year ago who told me to use Retin-a. It is the only thing proven by the fda to help with wrinkles. I love it. I get it for 10.00 for a 6 week tube by prescription. I cant believe I wasted so much money on everything else. Also, SUNSCREEN is very important because you are much more sensitive when using this. You can use it forever they just keep giving you a higher dose.

dry touch...the one w/ helioplex, w/ UVA & UBA protection.
Just read an article that said organic is nice...but it's those durn chemicals (retinol/retinA, etc) are the things that make us look pretty;) Said organic is fine for cleansers.

I have used both too. Obaji is expensive, but you don't need much.

I have a problem with follow through on the products. When my skin gets red and irritated, I stop for a few days and I'll start again later only to stop again. I *know* I'm not getting the benefit. The main reasons I stop is it's unsightly and it's painful to use sunscreen. I wish I could stick with the process. :(

I love Mary Kay-especially the Time Wise products. The day solution also contains sunscreen, so that's an added benefit. It really does make your face look and feel smoother and younger!

ditto. Have tried over and over and over again, but I get sick of the red peelies and I stop (and I use a very low dose). Anyone have tips on how to get past this?! :confused3

I need to look up how long you're supposed to continue. I guess if I knew how long to go past that stage (within reason) I'd continue. It doesn't feel right to make it worse, even though I know that's to be expected. I've just been conflicted with it.

I like almost all the Olay Regenerist products, especially the daily serum and the overnight cream. Do *not* like the Regenerist with 'micro-beads' in a red jar....that lotion kind of makes a film on my skin and if I disturb it after it dries, it peels.

Also, a product from Boots No. 7 that was recommended on the DIS, the 'line filler'...that stuff is AMAZING and not very expensive either, only about $15 for a tube. I picked up the Boots No. 7 Lip Plumper at the same time and 8really* like it too.

For overall body moisturizing the Cetaphil cream/lotion is wonderful (Costco usually has it). Aveeno also makes some lotions/shower wash that are very good for almost any kind of dry skin conditions.

agnes!

I use coconut oil (organic, unrefined virgin) to remove my eyemakeup, also to moisturize my face and body and hair. I love it.

I would love to know this too. I have the Retin A micro and cannot use it every day or even every other day and usually just give up. I can use the ROC night cream every day with no problem but I am sure it is not as good as the prescription retin A. For those of you with success with it how long did it take you to get past the irritated stage?

I've been using the L'Oreal Skin Genesis Daily Moisturizer SPF 15 Lotion Fragrance Free. I love it! I have to use fragrance free on all makeups and lotions or my eyes burn. I guess it is some kind of allergy. I'm thinking about adding the serum.

I do have a brown spot that showed up on my face last year during my pregnancy and it hasn't gone away. I think it may just be an age spot since I'm 43 now. I may have a trip to the dermatologist in my future.
