Hello

Which restaurants are the hardest to get, so you request at 180 days out? I usually don't do table service, but want to try a few this next trip with my Newbies. Thought of BOG, maybe somewhere in Epcot, Whispering Canyon at our resort.

Thanks

Honestly if I want it I'm gonna try for it at 180 days out vs taking my chances that I won't get something later even when its not one of the hard to get ADR's.

BOG is a definite 180 days prior in my book!

If my trip is planned more than 180 days out, I request all my desired ADRs at 180 days so I have the best chance of getting the time I want. BOG and Ohana are two I'd recommend booking at 180 days out if you are interested in dining there.

I agree with PP. BOG and 'OHana are two of the hardest ADR's to get.
But I decide where I want to eat and then I book 180 day ADR's for all of them.
I don't make my decisions on where I want to eat based on which ADR's are hard to get, but rather on which menus appeal to our family, where we are going to be and what we want to do.

From our experience, we had a hard time getting BOG at 180 days out. O'Hana was a challenge as well. We were able to get both, but we had to settle for a later time than we would have liked at BOG.

O'Hana for dinner
Tusker House for breakfast
BOG

and if we have a restaurant we really want to eat at we book that one, too, just in case

When I was booking at 180 days I made sure that our must do ADRs were covered.
To be honest the only really tricky ones imo are CRT and BOG.
Neither were actually on our list but making sure that we booked CG for wishes, Rose and Crown for Illuminations and 1900 for dinner on the first night were more of a priority for our family.

I book them all at 180. (Well, in the case of my next trip, all but a Rivers of Light dining package as those aren't out for August yet.)

From what I know, BOG and CRT are the toughest. With 'Ohana and Chef Mickey being second.

Given that you can cancel up to 24 hours in advance and only a few require an actual monetary deposit, I don't see the reason to hold off.

I book all of my reservations 180 days out. For our August trip, Garden Grill at 8 a.m. was impossible for several days, even with 180+ the days of our trip...I ended up with an 8:20 a.m. Agree with previous posters that Ohana and BOG are also tricky to get.

Like others have said I make them all and then move them around as I need to. It is usually difficult to move Ohana, BOG, and California Grill. But with a larger party, and especially during free dining, it can be difficult to move almost anything.

I don't have much to offer for hard to get reservations, but if there is a hard to get one I have read many times that you should put towards the end of your trip (that is if you are on site and can get the 180+10) this way you are possibly ahead of anyone just making exact 180day reservations or those with later trips than yours. It pays to be super flexible with your dining times and then just plan your park time around what you are able to snag.

I haven't been there yet but wonder how can BOG be so hard to get at 180 days? If that's the earliest people can book (plus 10 days) who is getting all the tables? Is it that small inside?

As you noted, the people getting many of the reservations are the people who are dining there on the last day of their vacation (for example) and could book it up to the 10 days earlier. It is not small, but the kitchen capacity is. I've never seen it more than half full at dinner.

I have a trip planned for Easter week. When I went in to make my ADR at 180 days I was able to get BOG no problem and plenty of times to choose from. I think if you hesitate and wait then you will be limited. Like previous posters have mentioned- make a loose plan, book your reservations and change if your plans change. I am sure this is frowned upon, but I may make 2 different reservations for 2 different parks for the same evening and as I sort through our touring plans I cancel what I don't need. Your times can not over lap(so you can't have one adr at 5:30 then the next at 6:00.). There might need to be a 45-60 min difference. I will cancel pretty early (4 months out) on so I'm not holding on to reservations until the day before. That is not fair to do to others.

I will also add Beaches and Cream as a hard one - just because it is tiny in there.

I generally book everything that I think we want at 180 days out. Then - when Fast Passes are available, I shave off the extras and conflicts.

Also - you can generally get close to what you want at less than 180 days - if you are persistent. I just finished booking ADRs for a "last minute" trip that we are taking in May. That's only last minute in the Disney sphere of things, but it was only 75 days out when I started trying. I have been able to get everything that I wanted - and in most cases multiple options of what I wanted. CRT (breakfast PPO and dinner), BOG (breakfast PPO, lunch and dinner), Ohana (dinner), Beaches, California Grill (prime fireworks time), Tusker House, and a few others- all gotten without a major effort.

That being said - it's still better to book early and drop what you change your mind about.

As said above, Beaches and Cream is the only one we book far out. All the others we book within a few weeks, or even a few days.
