Me again, newbie with another question. It's just DH and I for now and for the foreseeable future we'll only need a studio. Unless friends/family come along but I digress.
Our home resort will be VWL but we would love to try other resorts as well. How hard is it to get a studio at the 7mnth window. Are they more popular? or less because larger families need bigger accomodations?

I asked the same question about BCV since we are having a family reunion in July 2006. We will need a 2 bdrom and 4 studios. I was basically advised by the Disney experts on this board it usully depends on the time of year... less points, the harder to secure what you want... summer months are easier, at least I really hope this is the case! I was also recommended to secure at your home resort at the 11 month window just in case.

Good Luck!

It seems to me that Studios in general are the most difficult to secure followed by 2 bedroom units and 1 bedroom coming in distant last. It makes sense. 1 bedroom is basically a studio with a kitchen that takes bunch of extra points. You will need the 2 bedroom from time to time but that's just MHO.

I agree that Studios are more difficult to get. BCV and BWV are at the top of the list of hardest to get studios.

I would think Studios and Grand villas are more difficult than any other accommodations. At OKW anyway, that is the case.

The only time we have had a hard time getting a studio is at HH! And actually I've been able to get one at the 7 month mark the last two years! But, this year something has come up and we need to switch weeks! But no luck so far :sad2: though we are actually waitlisted for any size unit! We were also able to get a studio at VWL the week of Easter at the 7 month mark (we are BCV owners) and, I have a studio booked at BCV in Sept/Oct that I booked in March! So, I don't think booking a studio is that much of a problem unless you really wait till the last moment! :rotfl:

TA, This has always been our experience.. VWL studos are the next hardest to get. We have found it is much easier to get a studio at OKW then the other DVC resorts. OKW is a bigger resort; not as big as SSR is going to be; but about 200-300 more villas than BWV; and many more villas than BCV or VWL. How many of those villlas are studios, I have no idea Most likely someone has the exact figures.
Enjoy your trip. All the Disney resorts are special.

That said, there are actually MORE studios at BWV than at OKW (believe it or not), but due to the configurations that doesn't necessarily mean that a studio at BWV will be easier to get than at OKW.

And since they reserve many as 2 BR ONLY, the functional number is less. I doubt we'd be able to find out how many the system books as studio, 1 BR and 2 BR lockoff's. I wouldn't be surprised if it actually fluctuates due to the number of which type of unit has been reserved.

You see lots of people on the Rent/Trade Board who want a studio from Sun to Fri and they get them from members. (They run less points and people can do a cheap vacation and still get a nice hotel) I tried to get a studio in Jan for June at BCVs. There were none. We could have gone on the waitlist, but I don't like to have things unsettled. We got one at SSR.

I'd have to say 3 bedrooms are the hardest to get. Then it might be dedicated two bedrooms if you want the two queen beds in the second bedroom.
