Definitely take your aunt to at least one character meal. My parents could never afford to take me or my brother to WDW (besides my dad would never have went anyway, just not his cup of tea). A few years ago we had to put my dad in a nursing home and my mom had to move in with me. That Dec I took her to WDW for her first time to see all the Christmas stuff. Believe it or not, her favorite thing that whole trip was the character meals. That 72 y/o woman loved the attention from the characters and had more fun than any of the kids there. She enjoyed the
MVMCP, the Candlelight Processional, Hoop de Doo, the Osbourne Lights, and absolutely loved the World Showcase at Epcot, but her face still lights up when she talks about those character meals and how Pluto, Mickey, and Chip & Dale interacted with her. She still talks about how she dined in the castle at MK and about how Mary Poppins scolded Tigger for getting in our picture with her at 1900 Park Fare one morning. I wasn't even sure she would like the character meals, so I was really surprised at how much she really loved them. I spent most of that trip trying not to cry as I watched her interact with the characters. She looked so happy and as excited as any kid.
I'm taking her back in Sept and we've upgraded from the free
DDP to the DxDDP. The other day she just casually asked if we were going to do any character meals on this trip, then immediately said it didn't matter if we didn't. However, when I told her I had booked a character meal for breakfast almost everyday, plus a few for lunch and dinner, her whole face lit up like a Christmas tree and she said she couldn't wait to see Pluto again. Her birthday is Sept 9th and on the day she turns 75 y/o she will celebrate by having breakfast with Pooh and friends at Crystal Palace and dinner that night at 1900 Park Fare with Cinderella, Prince Charming, and the evil stepsisters.
The character meals are pure Disney and can only be experienced at WDW. Give your aunt that opportunity.
