Day 2 Friday 13th July ‘07

Me – Disney fanatic - I stomped through Disneyland Paris in 1994, since why come to a theme park when you’re in Paris, yes really! Favourite PM
Diane (DP) – Long suffering Disney widow, buts loves it all anyway. Favourite BTM
Morgan (DD9) – 9 year old Disney fan. Favourites BTM, Pirates of the Caribbean
Jack (DS) – 7 year old Disney, Star Wars fan. Favourites now BTM and Star Tours Autopia
Robyn (DD5) – 5 year old Disney fan. Loves parades and Casey Jr
Tom - TomTom sat nav that will get a full workout this trip

Well it is Bastille Day :crowded: , visiting brother from London and our trip to get shopping etc.
Now my brother just doesn’t get Disney and last time we wandered around the village and relayed everyone to DCR.
This time I said that as it would be our first full park day, he either stumped for park passes or we’d wave to them through the gates :wave2:

Anyway, so much for a long lie with everyone tired. We are up at 07.00hrs.
After showering I go to the hut and pick up breakfast. I’m escorted by the troops as we have brought their folding micro scooters with us :moped:
10 croissants, 1 baget, jam, sugar, carton of milk, 1ltr orange juice and hot chocolate.

Once everyone is ready we are off to Auchan. I’ve a rough idea where this is, but helpfully Auchan’s site has a link for putting in gps details so Tom is fired up
Now if you have read our previous reports you'll know that we never made it to here. Hence why food is first thing on today’s list :)

We arrive within 10/15 minutes due to detours. The roadworks become a feature of the trip but nothing to make it a problem.

Leading into the upper level is the shopping centre. On this floor in Auchan it is white goods, dvds, cds, clothing etc
By the way a tip. Have a €1 coin in the car for deposit for the trolley.
We find the travelator to get us to the ground floor. Troops enjoy the fact that it is magnetised for the trolley. We need to get out a bit more :rotfl:

Stock up with ham, cheeses, olives, salads, water, fruit, apple juice, and some chicken and sausages for suppers.
Back at the cabin we fill the fridge and sort dinner outside at the cabin.
While we are eating my brother txt to say that they are on the RER from Chalet les Halles and will get to the park by 13.00hrs.

With annual passports in tow we head for HNY which will become our daily parking spot. We note that security record in-coming and out-going car registrations so definitely a bit higher security.

Meet my brother and his girlfriend at 13.15hrs. Hugs all round and we notice with amazement that they are fairly dressed for the day… they will melt  Their excuse is that when they checked the weather before leaving home the forecast was not great. Now this is the non-Disney geek of my family, but they both love being auntie and uncle.

The park is very busy so we spend quite a while wandering about the park looking for rides with manageable queues. I’m beginning to think that this could be an expensive day for my brother… tickets to just walk around a park As Angela gets motion sickness and doesn’t do heights she will probably not do many rides.

Buzz is posting 60 min waits so it could be a slow day.
We head over to POTC and have the very best session first ever with Capt Jack Sparrow.
I think for about 20 mins we are only joined by 1 or 2 other people.
Jack is brilliant with the troops.

He has the mannerisms down perfectly. Even when signing the autographs. Then gets into a tussle with the bush behind. We lap it up. DS is delighted when Jack exclaims we have the same name. DS was convinced that his book is signed Capt You Sparrow. It is difficult to tell but DS believes it anyway.

Mark is keen to get a ride under his belt so apart from Angela we all head off to ride POTC. The queue is right outside and feel that it is unfair for auntie so we head back.
But now the mood has got to everyone so we do Snow White followed by Pinocchio. We decide to head over to Discoveryland but Buzz is still posting 60 min waits. Star Tours has a 10 min wait so we head for this. Another first for the troops. DD5 does not like this one bit so that puts paid to any thoughts of her riding BTM.
DS and DD9 on the other hand love every minute of it.
We have fast passes for BTM later so we think that to compensate we should go on Storybook and Casey Jr as Robyn and Angela will be keeping each other company while the rest of us go on BTM.
Casey is DD5’s favourite ride and she squeals all the way round

Our FP time for BTM soon arrives. Now DD9 loves this and it is her favourite. DS has never ridden this so another first.
His reaction when we come off is it is awesome. In fact non Disney uncle grabs Angela to take her back to the photospot to show her.

At some point we head up Swiss Family Robinson treehouse and visit the castle and dragon.

Needing to think about supper we spend a bit of time looking at the menu at Silver Spur, but don’t think that the troops will take any of the starters. Well DD9 will eat most things but it is risky for the other two.
So we head to a family favourite of Annette’s Diner. To be honest I think that Mark and Angela are quietly pleased to be leaving the park as they had remarked that the music in the park seemed a bit repetitive… as I said they just don’t get it

No photos here I’m afraid.
Orders are Vegetable pattie, Chicken burger, cobb salad and Mark goes for the Incredible burger. As my review here shows, the greedy hound eat the lot.
The troops have children’s fish and hotdogs.
As I’ve forgotten the 20% discount coupon I have to settle for shareholders card which gives us 15% off, so not to bad. €119.62/£84.79

The rest of the time is spent pin-trading (well the troops do) and shopping.
We sit down with lots of water at €2 for a small bottle as it is baking hot. Glad that we have 6 * 2ltr bottles at the ranch for €1.50 as we’ve spent a small fortune on water today.

At about 21.30 Mark and Angela bid farewell and we walk with them to the train station and then head back to HNY and the car.

Had hoped to meet up with Jackie (BRobson) but we never managed.

Get back to the cabin and the troops are bushed.
Put the girls to their beds and DS in ours till they are all asleep.
Meanwhile we sit outside at the table. DP catches up on Brain Training on her DS. I catch up on trip report while we both imbibe in a glass of local grape juice ;) I think we are probably in bed by 22.30hrs

Great report, loved reading it:thumbsup2

I know what you mean about Jack Sparrow. We had a 15 minute meeting with him too and it is still the talking point. Best character by far as he has the whole thing down to a t...even his eye movements are perfect. For a minute even I was giddy and taken in:rotfl:

What a lovely day ~ and to get all that time with Captain Jack!!! :yay: :yay: :yay:

Sounds like a great day. We subjected my sister and husband to Disney in November - they just didn't get it at all

Shame we didn't get a chance to meet this time - next time :rolleyes1

Wow, Jack Sparrow looks great!! I hope I run into him somewhere.

Looking forward to reading more!

Another fabulous day, was wondering if you managed to convert your brother by the end of the day?

Great picture of your three with Jack Sparrow, would have loved to have seen him when we were last there in the summer of 2006.

I'd love to have said yes, but I suspect if it wasn't for the troops they would have left a lot earlier :rolleyes1

I am so desperately jealous about your encounter with Capt Jack Saprrow - we didn't manage to meet him at all - just saw him in the distance once! Hopefully he will be cruising on the magic and he won't be able to hide from us then!

This was for most of us the only encounter with Jack we had :) So we couldn't believe our luck :goodvibes

so your brother and Angela didn't even spend a night with you at DLP? Travel all that way for such a short encounter and they didnt' really have any fun? (aside from seeing neices and nephew?) I guess I just don't get how people can purposefully not have fun at Disney?

Ah well, to each their own.

Awesome encounter with Captain Jack!
