It's late on Sunday afternoon... and I just got back into the house after spending most of the day outside. I pulled all the annuals up from my new flower beds around the house. Whacked back the foilage on the perennials in those same beds, added a couple of inches of my "homebrew" compost.... and then dug it all in and raked it smooth. They look all tidy and ready for the winter... come spring... all I will need to do is add fertilizer, dig and smooth it again... and PLANT! :)

I have half of the main garden done already.. but I have another large flower bed to do and the vegetable garden to put to bed yet. I hope to work one garden in a weekend between now and DISCON.

Then the winter project... is to plan what goes in those beds next year! :p :teeth:

Dixie sounds like you got a lot done. Wish there wasn't so much fall work to do. Just when you think your done a windy day comes along and blows all the neighbors leaves into your yard. Oh I forgot your neighbors are miles away.

This was a busy weekend for me too. Trying to get some painting and stenciling done, and some yard work too. Mowed and limed the front yesterday.

Picked up Grandson Nathan late yesterday, he is going to help with the yard work. Then were going to the outlet mall. First of all he sleeps till 9, I've been out for 2 hours. Then he has to take a shower, "Why! we cleaning the yard" He finally gets outside to help and he's hungry. I go in the house and make french toast and pumpkin spice cappuccino (yummy) Breakfast over I head back outside, Where's Nathan I come in to see where he is he's watching cartoons, "I thought you came over to help me" Back out side, I'm raking he's hauling it all away. Where the heck is he now "Nathan where are you" He looking for the air pump one of the wheel barrows has a flat. "Forget the flat use the other wheel barrow" It been four hours in the yard, I'm beginning to think this is not going to be a productive day we have about 1/10 of what I've planned on doing.

Oh well a quick shower and it off to the mall and pizza for lunch (he's hungry again)

With Nathan back home I'm hoping tomorrow is a little more productive. :)

LOL Mamu! Nathan does not have your work ethic (yet). ;)

Lindsay helped me today too and she managed to stick it out to the end. She pulled up the annuals that had been frozen out and pulled weeds. I have been lucky in that she enjoys the time together and likes seeing the results of our efforts. In fact, she was the one who kept those beds weeded and cultivated for most of the summer. She kind of took them on as her own.

I admire how organized the two of you are! :) We spent Saturday in Toronto trying to get some Christmas shopping done. We weren't very successful unfortunately. Sunday was very weird here, rain during the day, and lots of thunder and lightning in the evening.

Mamu, what a yummy breakfast, lucky Nathan! :)

I wish I had everyones elses energy!

We finished hauling all that dirt, all my new beds are done...just in time to be covered by leaves! I think I may just leave them there and rake them in the spring.

I still need to cut back my 3 big beds..maybe later this week.

Tomorrow i am going to Plimouth Plantation with the second graders (a nor'easter last week postponed it), Wednesday to the Estuary with the sixth graders, dentist appointments, vet appointments and thursday DH and Norah leave for Kentucky and Indiana on a college trip.
Saturday DS takes his Secondary School Apptitude Test and then we may go see Harry Potter.

Whew...busy week.

Listen Buds, don't wear yourselves out completely before you even get to DisCon!!! :) :p :bounce:

Ooohh!! I forgot Harry Potter releases this week... I definitely have to go next weekend with DD! She is a real HP fan. :)

(I like the books too! LOL!)

DD, you must have the energy of the Tasmanian Devil!!!! How do you do it? ;) Well, at least you have a helper!

And Amid - WOW! You got it all done, eh? That is a heck of an accomplishment!!!

I transplanted some shrubs for my mother on Sunday. "We" work together in her yard. I do the labor and she supervises and keeps my glass of ice water full. ha ha ha ha!

Today "we" are going to spread mulch in the new beds where I transplanted the shrubs. Then "we" are going to spread a layer of weed block in front of a row of hollies and "we" are going to spread mulch there too.

It's amazing that "we" get so much done! ;) And how come only one of us ends up with broken nails and dirty knees?

You all are putting me to shame. I haven't lifted a finger on the Polynesian garden since we moved the palm trees. Guess I'd better clear some more out so I can post some pictures. I'm so ashamed of how it looks now, especially after seeing the great pictures that Dixie and Amid posted!!!

Pictures??? I missed pictures??? (Tulirose will certainly search thread thoroughly when through with this post! ).

TigH - Wanna visit Long Island, NY, and "WE" can work in my garden!! LOL
