My husband and I wish to get into the DVC and buy @ 150pts. DVC is offering incentives to buy at Vero Beach right now. We plan to move around and stay at different resorts and hotels within WDW so if what the sales reps say is true it really shouldn't matter where we are deeded, right? So why am I so reluctent to deed outside of DW? Paranoia? Any input would be appreciated.

One thing I have learned is that you should buy where you plan to stay the most.

To avoid an outpouring of sentiment which may bowl us all over, you might want to click search in the upper right hand corner of the screen.

Type in vero beach or VB and you will see many, many divergent viewpoints on this divisive question.

Best of luck --

Yoba you will receive heated arguements on both sides. Please do not be put off by the tone of any of them but use them all to make your own decisions.

Two very recent threads on this topic are

(Just went to find the second one).

Basic guidance is to buy where you plan to stay most but there are many people who can make Vero work for them as long as they are flexible about where they stay at WDW (i.e, you don't have to stay at BWV, WLV or OKW only).

Look at the thread right after this one or before it. You will see many talking about how difficult it is to get in at their home resort at 9 or 10 months.

If your rep told you that you could get whatever you want and the eleven month window doesn't matter, he lied to you.

You will be able to get somethng, most of the time, but there are certain things you will never be able to get. You will also be disappointed and forced to spend the extra points required for hotels like the GF or Poly...you will also be paying the highest dues of any resort.

Disney has that incentive because they are having a very difficult time selling those points, their sales people have actually had to stoop to lies and fraud to sell those points.

If you can be extremely flexible, and don't mind missing a year or two here or there, and don't mind being flexible in the sixe unit that you spend points on, VB will work for some.

My advice is to buy where you plan to stay.

"From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs", Karl Marx, pretty sick, huh?

You're a quick study Yoba. Good decision. :)

Yoba...the folks that post here regularily will never steer you wrong. ABSOLUTELY buy where you plan on going to the most! Vero appears to have lots of incentives but you will have difficulty in getting the peak seasons at WDW resorts at the 7 months window without being highly flexible. Since OKW and BWV are sold out through DVC right now, you're only site WDW option through Disney is the Wilderness Lodge Villas. If you decide that you want OKW or BWV, try some of the resale agents that you can find by doing a search on this board. There are many threads that give you lots of info.

My point is that you should spend enough time researching your purchase decision on these boards prior to hearing the pitch from DVC as you will be able to ask the right questions and challenge incorrect info.

Our family was lucky and bought at BWV last June before they closed sales. Our first stay will be spring break at Vero. Not a problem to make the reservation we wanted there at the 7 month window. I know that I would have had difficulty getting a BWV ressie for the same time at the 7 month window.

Good luck and the decision to join will be one you will not regret!!!

Dream it and you're there!

Hi Yoba:

I noticed that you had made a decision to focus on resales after getting all sorts of good info and where to buy.

May I suggest the broker we used for buying our resale. Jaki Apetz at A Timeshare Broker 888-345-2622. She is very easy to work with and very low key. We bought a resale and found it very painless. Take it from another Massachusetts resident, I would not steer you wrong.

Good luck with your decision and email me with any questions on the process.
